It's quite a ways away, but CONCACAF announced dates and locations for the 2019 Gold Cup. Good draw for those in Iowa that might want to catch a game.

Group D - United States
June 18: Allianz Field, Minnesota, MN
June 22: FirstEnergy Stadium, Cleveland, OH
June 26: Children’s Mercy Park, Kansas City, KS

Can't wait for Allianz Field to open up. Looks awesome whenever I drive by it.

Will definitely be keeping an eye on when these tickets are going on sale.

Today marks 1 year since the failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup. A day of complete and total darkness in which the life was sucked out of me.

Where do we stand? No head coach and Michael Bradley is still being called up to friendlies.
We are not out of the dark days yet.

As long as the current admin is in charge of the Fed were not going anywhere different. We could hire Pep Guardiola and if the current policy of being attached at the hip to MLS was still in force we’d be right here, not sure if we can qualify for a WC and if we do make it the goal is to get out of the group. So we really haven’t made much progress since ‘94.

Grant Wahl put out an article today about the process since the failure. I thought this quote was pretty telling of where the federation still is.

When I talked in the past week to two accomplished American soccer people who work regularly with U.S. Soccer officials, one spoke relatively highly of Flynn and chief commercial and strategy officer Jay Berhalter (brother of Gregg), but added: “There are some dead average people there” in positions of power at the federation. The other said: “They never fire anyone. Even if someone isn’t very good at their job, they just let their contract run out.” (Sure enough, the federation announced this week that women’s youth technical director April Heinrichs wasn’t going to extend her contract at the end of the year.)

Guess what? It's raining, and it's a WCQ vs Trinidad and Tobago except with the Women.

Except we lead 4-0 at halftime.

Also the tables have turned and Mexico failed to qualify, lost to Panama 2-0 thanks to excellent goalkeeping by a 16/17 Year Old. She actually made the US earn those 6 goals.

If we make the Semifinals, all we need to do is to not lose twice and we are going to France, If we end up in the 3rd place game and lose, we'll need to beat a COMEBOL team on a home and Away aggregate series

So if you've been watching the Save The (Colombus) Crew saga, there's been a huge update. While some of the major players like MLS are saying no comment and such, a report came out today that a group headed by the Haslem family (They own the Browns) is in late negotiations to buy the Crew and keep the team in Colombus (However, there are some sources saying as a expansion franchise some not)

The familiar sources are saying it's likely happening that there will be a CC next year. I honestly expected this outcome because SUM isn't that stupid but then again they're still allowing Precourt to set a team up in Austin and IDK, let the Spurs org play in the big league with SAFC but whatever .

on the USWNT front, We're playing Jamaica for a WC spot, Canada plays Panama in the other semi final (That's right, Mexico didn't qualify for France)

The 2018 U-20 CONCACAF Tournament has begun, the format has changed to include every CONCACAF team. It's being held in Bradenton, FL.

The first segment is a 6 country group, you gotta top to move on, we're playing Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Suriname, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago. We've won our first game 7-1 vs PR but Suriname is leading the group thanks to a 13-0 victory against US VI

4 spots are up for grabs, to decide who gets them we'll be playing the winner of Groups C and E in a minigroup, The Top 2 teams in the group move on to the next U20.

We beat TnT 6-1 and became the only team in our group to stay undefeated. This isn't even a full strength U-20 team by the way.

Also the callup list for the upcoming friendlies, Pulisic is listed

DEFENDERS (10): John Brooks (Wolfsburg/GER; 35/3), Reggie Cannon (FC Dallas; 1/0), Cameron Carter-Vickers (Swansea City/WAL; 6/0), Aaron Long (New York Red Bulls; 1/0), Matt Miazga (Nantes/FRA; 10/1), Shaq Moore (Reus Deportiu/ESP; 3/0), Antonee Robinson (Wigan Athletic/ENG; 6/0), Jorge Villafaña (Portland Timbers; 19/0), DeAndre Yedlin (Newcastle United/ENG; 56/0), Walker Zimmerman (LAFC; 3/1)

MIDFIELDERS (13): Kellyn Acosta (Colorado Rapids; 21/2), Tyler Adams (New York Red Bulls; 7/1), Luca de la Torre (Fulham/ENG; 1/0), Marky Delgado (Toronto FC/CAN; 5/0), Romain Gall (Malmö/SWE; 0/0), Julian Green (Greuther Fürth/GER; 14/4), Sebastian Lletget (LA Galaxy; 3/1), Weston McKennie (Schalke/GER; 6/1), Darlington Nagbe (Atlanta United FC; 25/1), Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund/GER; 21/9), Kenny Saief (Anderlecht/BEL; 3/0), Wil Trapp (Columbus Crew SC; 9/0), Tim Weah (Paris Saint-Germain/FRA; 7/1)

We've qualified for the 2nd stage of the u20 concacaf tourney. It's pretty simple, we play Honduras and Costa Rica in a Triad of sorts.

The top team plays for the title for the region and is qualified for the 2019 u20 WC in Poland, 2nd place qualifies as well, 3rd place gets nothing.

On the other side, Mexico, Panama, and Costa Rica are playing

We play on the 16th and 19th

Also Zach Steffen has hurt his hamstring so guess who's replacing him? Johnathan Klinsmann (It's his Son, Jurgen's wife is American so naturally John has US citizenship and played at the u20 level, he plays at Hertha Berlin currently)

Embarrassing. Even though it will hurt my Crew; Berhalter needs to get in there ASAP so he can start getting his system going. Don’t have the players? Better have a true system.

People will be skeptical in the hire but people will like GGG’s system and how we’ll actually look like a modern footballing side.

Turns out, and stay with me here, not having any forwards is a bad thing. Also Pulisic being "hurt" for most of the year didn't help.

On another note: I liked the 3 man back line today. I think you can run that thing Long-Brooks-Miazga and be just fine. Of course a coach would make those decisions, one we don't have yet.

I am a sick soul for watching almost all of that game at work today. We had no ability to hold the ball and make consecutive passes. Describing the problem is easy, to find a solution and work to be better at our disadvantages, we need a coach that can help move forward. I am beyond disparaged with the team and federation right now. It has been over a year and the team is playing with no purpose and no direction because they are too inept to hire a coach. At this point, pick anyone! I really don't care. If it is Greg Burhalter, then why the f... did it take so long to hire the damn guy.
A wasted year. While the rest of the world was getting better, we burned an entire year and are no better this year than the last.

Exactly. I frankly don't know anything about Burhalter, he could be a great fit. But color me unimpressed if we've waited a year+ & it ends up being him.
