*** Official Tulsa Vs IOWA STATE Gameday Thread ***

EPNU agan. BOOOOOOOO!

Now that South Carolina is is on the other side of the bracket, Iowa State should have the strongest fan support the rest of the way, so that can't hurt. Although I didn't sense a ton of SC fans made the grueling 2-hour trip to see the game anyway.

I like the fan sign I saw yesterday, "Hilton Deep South." Clever, I thought.

Not to rain on anyone's Debbie was better parade but the bit about measuring the nets was just so ******* stupid. I will concede she was the better of the two by a long shot but it was more of a team effort I thought.

I liked when the pxp guy almost forced her to get out on the court to measure Wigginton's three-pointer. She thought he was joking at first and then he promised the viewers that during the break, she would measure it. She had to tell him she wasn't going to do it. That guy was unbelievably bad.

I was saying this yesterday to my roommates while watching the game. Cam Lard has a mean streak about him that I don't think we've had since DeAndre Kane. After every play he makes he is making a face or talking or in the other players face. So much so that I saw DJ and NWB try to calm him down a bit (which I somewhat disagree with, but you don't want him to get a tech if he is jawing at someone).

Idk, you could just tell there was a different feel when he was playing, and that is a very good sign. Even if it isn't consistent to start, his motor and length reaaallly help us out a lot and helps cover up some flaws.

Hans struggled on O to start, but that would have to be the year and half long first game jitters, and he was still working hard on D and talking the whole time, those are things that are huge for this team at this point in the season because we really don't have that true identity yet, or have a proven leader.

Happy with the way we played, the last 4 minutes it was a bit nerve racking but it wasn't necessarily because we were playing poorly. Just have to clean some things up when you have the lead.

Blum and CW gave her some props for that sign on the radio.

CJP will keep coaching them up, getting them in the right spots, playing to their strengths. If Lard can be consistent, and Nick plays anything close to what he did last night we have a chance to be competitive.

Glad he's got a mean streak but I'd prefer someone just going about their business without the jawing and drama...glad NWB and DJ stepped in. Much more impressive if someone is just playing the game and leaving it at that.

I watched Xavier/Wisconsin last night and the Xavier players were all over the fans, especially one particular kid. Looked like a moron.

So you didn't like DeAndre Kane or Royce White? Did you catch any of the game? It wasn't detrimental or anything, he was just being himself. He wasn't trying to fight anyone, he would get a block and be jacked up and the older guys stepped in. He would get a bucket off of a good post move and he'd make a face running up the court back at our guys.

Now I don't know what was said, but the fact that he is talking isn't enough to call it drama. He was just being a kid playing basketball how he'd always played it. If a double-double has to come to with him having an edge, I am all about that, especially from our big man

I catch a lot of games from the radio of a tractor cab and last night was no different. I LOVE listening to Walters and Heft.....but when the time comes for them to retire out of it, I really hope Blum and Williams get a phone call. I kept telling myself, I may be listening to the future voice of the cyclones, and I'm content with that. They did a very very good job. It was great radio.

No, didn't catch any of the game, and not saying ISU hasn't had behaviors from players that I didn't appreciate as a general sports fan.

If it's internalized and within the team, great and there's nothing wrong with fire and emotion. That's something this team needs.

If it's directed at opponents/fans and happens often, the player looks like an idiot and the best thing that can happen to that player/team with those kinds of behaviors is to get punked in a bad loss or something.

I like the line up of Babb, Jackson, Wigginton, Young, and Lard. I think that might be our starting line up after a while
I would replace young with Talley. He is a better rebounder and can guard 3/4/5. If you have Lard and Young you will have defensive matchup problems. Plus Talley can create off the bounce. Just my opinion.
Otherwise agree.

I like idea of Talley coming off the bench playing for any of those positions depending on matchups or if foul trouble hits. Talley definetly has looked the part I could get behind him getting extended minutes when going small but I am not ready to jump Solomon for him at least not this early.

Let's not forget how well Young played to end last year as an undersized Center. His first three games this year have been limited by foul trouble, if he cleans that up I expect Solo to get in a better groove and build on that. In the future moving SY to the PF, with Lard at C, should give him even better matchups in the future (size wise).

In many games you’ll have just as many defensive matchup problems with both a Tally and Lard as you will Lard and Young.

I’d start all three.

Thanks Rulzzz.
With three basketball games sandwiching a football game, the only thing better than this is post season games. Looking forward to tonight's game like a kid in a candy store. Go Cyclones!
