***Official Spring Game Thread***

We aren't there and we don't have a clue. You are there and you don't have a clue. See now we're all happy.

I have as much clue as u. I just laugh at experts on here who make judgements based on not having a clue as to who is playing who.

He actually has a very good point. We are NOT there and I like what I'm hearing from Bruns on the radio regarding the 1st team OL. Conversely, the strong play of our 1st team DL against the 2nd team OL is mostly a positive development...though being a spring game it can only tell us so much. But it is a hopeful sign.

Rohach looks really good at times and really bad at times. A lot like last year. His 2 ints were both his fault.

I wasn't able to make it up there. Will we have a complete rundown on how everyone looked? Or will someone atleast post their opinion on how things went today?

Ben Bruns:
"Not sure this is a good football team at this point, but I see improvement." [paraphrase]If they make the same strides in the summer as they have in the winter, they have a real chance.

I may have missed it in this thread but wasn't that Rodney coe on the sidelines for much of the game just hanging out??

Looks like it's Rohach. I'm sure everyone will get their shot, but it looks like he's the guy going forward, and for good reason. Seems like we also have a good back up in Richardson/Lanning.

i'm sure CW will have a complete write up once he gets done drinking his daily six pack of busch lite in front of his George Strait shrine

nevermind it looks like it was Rodney on the sidelines. However he is not trying to play for Iowa State next year

Rohach really threw 3 ints today. Sam E dropped a very easy one. I really think we have a strong WR core. I think that PJ Harris is going to be the most improved on offense. I think the offense is still going to have their fair share of struggles this year. The defense I still think is going to get shredded this year. They looked fine going against the first team o but that doesn't mean much. I was surprised to see that Brackens is not on the first team right now.

I was there:

1- Rohach looked like the guy to me. Richardson is just slow and indecisive. Lanning has a cannon but he's young. he didn't have much chance to show anything because the 1st string Dline was in his face most of the day. Farniok needs to practice snapping the ball to Rohach, half the snaps where at the ground(Frustrating). Rohach had one bad throw and the other pick it was tipped and just a great D play.

2- Wimberly is Wimberly and he needs to stay healthy but he's a game breaker. Nealy looked ok he runs a little upright too much but He will get there. Brown the RS FR ran hard and he will be good.

3- Bibbs is a complete stud. Bundrage dropped at least 5-6 passes he really should have caught. The wind was a ***** today and I think that affected the overall QB/WR play. Wind was probably 25-30mph for 1st half.

4- 1st string Oline dominated 2nd string Dline, which is good. Pass protection was great. Oline looks a lot more physical than last year IMO.

5- 1st string D line basically dominated 2nd string Oline. Myers was all over the place as was Morrisey. We have two very solid DE's. If Cousin's can emerge and either of the Juco's can come in and be a surprise we might have a salvageable D line. If Irving plays that would make a big diff. But can't really count on that.

6- LB's were just ok. Meeks played well, I didn't see anything out of Harris that made me think he will be all conf. or anything but physically he certainly looks the part. I think with him he will look better come the season.

7- I hope TJ Mutcherson is ok? He was playing well. Cotton Moya made some good plays. Tackling seemed pretty solid overall.

I think we are a long way from being ready to play a team like NDSU or Kstate. But it was spring ball so what do we expect. Last year if I recall the Offense dominated and we were all giddy. This year the Defense outplayed the offense (which I think should be the case in a spring game).

8- Mangino ran a series where we went 6 wide with 2 lineman split out at WR. I was dying laughing. Poor Db's who had to block. I have no idea if MM was serious with this or was just giving the fans something to talk about but that would certainly be something you don't see every day. We also ran out of this formation. It would certainly be a formation that would be hard to defend. That's about all I can recall right now.

Did Knott play any today or is he still rehabbing?

I haven't been on the FB boards much since January, but I get the impression he's a guy that has somewhat been forgotten about based on his mid-season injury last year.

Good breakdown Beyerball. I'd say that I came away a little relieved. I was a little worried about our defense but doubting Wally is probably dumb. This was just the spring game but it was very encouraging to see our 1st team defense dominate our 2nd team offense like they should. It was sack after sack and 3 and out after 3 and out.

Yeah I noticed the 2 lineman lining up with the WR's as well. I was very confused. Is that something that happens often, if at all?

And Bundrage was being Bundrage. The dude had good positioning and routes, but cannot hold onto a ball to save his life. Needs to spend all summer working on his catching imo.

I missed the game. Thanks for the details. There is another synopsis on Cyclone.com . Just curious if any punting was done with our new punter. Hopefully, we won't need a punter too much next year - and we will use our punt returner more than our kickoff returner!

Heard that the co-eds attending had switched from winter garb directly into mid-summer skankiness, any confirmation??

Our punter isn't on campus yet and there wasn't any done in spring game.

He may be second team if he cannot catch the ball.
