We have two portal transfers named Fortenberry, Travis and Tyler. I assume they may be related. Any intel on these players?

Well you're close. Its Trevor and Tyler. Tyler is the get, tight end from Arkansas State. His brother Trevor is WR who was at Copiah-Lincoln in JUCO. I assume Trevor is a walk-on, not much of a prospect really.

Trevor & Tyler and they are brothers. Tyler was a good pass catching TE at Arkansas State. Trevor is coming from JC and is listed as a wide receiver.

I’d love for someone to explain the mechanics of how this works. I don’t see how “reserving” money helps create additional money to be spent under these new rules. The revenue share sounds like “use it or lose it” each year.
I think the idea is, the year is from July 1 to July 1, I believe. So July 1 (or whenever through the season) of the year you give out say 90% for incoming/returning players. Than after the season or before July 1 of the next year, you give out the extra 10% to players to return and not transfer. Then in July 1 the new year starts.

It is basically a fiscal year, not a calendar year, so it matches with the school year better, and it allows them to give out "bonuses" after the athletic season, which is still before the next fiscal year starts July 1.

So rumor is Sorsby, the top rated QB in the portal, got 3.3MM. Rocco got 3.5MM. Campbell may have overpaid.

If Sorsby went to TT for $3.3M he took the girlfriend was in the portal too discount.

There was a CBS or ESPN online article the other day that discussed some of the ins & outs how schools are structuring high value deals and they have leaked documents of LSU's proposal to Sorsby. My # aren't exact but close:
  1. Sorsby was to get around $1.5M in House Settlement money
  2. Then LSU had an agreement with a 3rd Party MMP that guaranteed $3.5M. And their responsibility was to line up sponsorship/marketing deals for Sorsby. But to a great deal, this MMP is guaranteeing monies they have to develop from scratch. But I'm sure they would leverage existing partnerships.

Watching the game last night, i see why the new coaches are loading up with the OL and DL. Miami was winning that battle last night. I hope that is what ISU will be like with this new team. What do you guy think? That was really impressive.

The DL is key. That's how Miami is able to beat teams. They stop the run and force the QB to make mistakes. TT had the same formula...they just didn't have the gamebreaker at WR.

It's gotten to be ridiculous. Sorsby is a fine QB. Pretty similar to Rocco I guess. In no way are those guys worth that much. You know it's bad when Chambliss is talking about suing for another year in college when by most accounts he would be a first round pick in the NFL. He'll make 4-5x more in college than he would in the freaking NFL. Think about that.
When 3rd and 4th round picks start consistently staying in school rather than going to the NFL cause they can make more money in school, I hope the NFL just comes in and smashes college football (I kind of hope it will anyway).

All the NFL needs to do is start playing on Saturdays and college football’s value drops 50-60%

Super helpful. Thank you. That makes much more sense now.

If we couldn’t get him to commit on the visit, I assume we probably won’t land him, given he’s heading to Georgia for a visit.
I mean, maybe. Nate Frazier is coming back, as he's going to be a TRJR (not eligible for the draft this spring). He's one of the best RBs in the country.

Spring semester starts Jan 20 I believe. Will most or perhaps all of the committed incoming transfers be on campus then? I would imagine there's no need to wait until summer.
