***Official portal tracker thread***

They say no press is bad press. I am seeing ISU all over the place being used as the poster team for everything that is wrong with NIL, the transfer portal, and the current state of college sports. Could we be the catalyst for change? It wouldn't be the first time something we did caused a major shift in college sports (or at least we like to think so). Maybe it will be like when we helped end the BCS. Although in hindsight that hasn't worked out too well for us.
You might be on to something. I'm pretty sure we were the catalyst for Big 12 HQ inventing apology letters for bad officiating.

Whatever room, board and tuition is. Approx. $43k per year for an out of state student. So just short of an additional $1M.

The handicap is we can't afford more expenses.

Since the move to roster vs. scholarship limits, a school could award partial scholarships between 86 to the 105 roster limit.

That additional expense is a handicap for schools like ISU, but I bet there are some blue bloods who would write the check. It might also be a tool some private schools like ND, NW, Vandy, Stanford, etc could leverage with their overall student scholarship structures to have 105 full ride players.

Would also be curious if WVU is doing something funky with their scholarships. Their fall recruiting class was 49 kids. Thats a lot of HS kids to throw on a 105 man roster.

NAIA is a huge step up from D3. Quite a few d1 athletes will drop down to that level. The D2s I knew that were borderline D1 typically were players that had been injured and the uncertainty of recovery held them from D1.
NAIA is a very different beast.

In my experience NAIA teams can vary wildly.

Based on this thread - a popular opinion is that none of our former players or perspective transfers or recruits are worth what the market says they are worth.

Boy, Rogers is going to have one helluva hill to climb if we can’t play market value for football talent.

Tyler Roehl was Trey Lance's OC at NDSU during his national title and Walter Payton Award winning season that got him drafted #3 overall.

I'm excited to see how Roehl aims to fit Raynor into a Trey Lance style gameplan.
If Roehl can make Lance look like he's worth 3 first rounders and a third then he might be the greatest OC alive.

Probably why the QB news is out tonight. They would want to know who they're blocking for, and once you tell them it's not going to be a secret any more. Hopefully JFR locks them down.
Plus, since the QB is probably one of the highest paid players. Need to get that one finalized for the next dominos to fall from a House Settlement budget standpoint.

Zay Robinson is visiting Penn State right now. Doubt he was part of the 5-10 people originally thought, yet he was one of the first to enter the portal, which tells me CMC was interested in poaching more than we expected
Again, not a chance Penn State will be happy with most of these guys. I think it’s going to go south for Matt pretty quick. They want big money guys, not scraps from an ISU team that lost to Colorado

I’d be OK with this

Let other programs over pay for production. They have the funds for it. Meanwhile we can't be as lazy.

Raynor and Lance have similar athletic profiles and skillsets. If you want a glimpse of what our offensive scheme will likely look like Id go watch some highlights fron Trey Lance's final season at NDSU.

He did absolutely nothing last year. I know he was a FR and will get better, but WR is a spot where you can play early if you are special. It’s not like our WRs were killing it this year. I didn’t see anything in the snaps he got that said he was more than just a guy.
