Mac didnt leave voluntarily. Mac has shown ISU love every step of the way.

Mac supports ISU through all kinds of avenues.

Someone leaving because ISU is not good enough for them vs. someone doing there best for ISU and being asked to leave, because it had went as far as we could, are very different.
I’d argue he was good enough, but had a hell of an uphill battle in Ames with the lack of tradition, lack of facilities, and lack of funding when he came.

His efforts built the foundation that allowed MC to be MC.

The issue with coaching is you only get to sell the ‘rebuild’ so many times before people don’t believe you. We’d improve, then decline…rebuild to look like it was rolling…then….

Mac ran out of rebuilds here.

Lol, he (Mac) was forced out. Stupid comparison
Exactly.

Right now can anyone imagine Matt Campbell 20 years from now, coming back to give a pep talk to rally up the team (coached by someone else) before a big game and start the tornado siren in Jack Trice?

I could be wrong, but sure seems like Matt is GONE gone when it comes to Ames, IA & ISU.

Mac loves us, ISU, and wants nothing more than to be in Ames and around Cyclone football.

Maybe a day will come where Campbell would come back and get honored at Jack Trice, but he left voluntarily and I just don't see him volunteering to come back.

I think you misread my post.

Mac was good enough, he just got us as far as he could, considering the situation.

Matt left because ISU was not good enough for him.

If some of the reports are true, it sounds like there is bad blood both ways between ISU and Campbell. Time heals some wounds, but if he has a long career at Penn State and ends his career there I find it hard to believe he'd want to have any involvement with ISU at any meaningful kind of level.

Johnny Majors was on his second stint with Pitt when I lived there.

There was much fanfare for his return, despite it only happening because the team he left them for canned him the year before.

You would think there would be residual animosity for a guy who announced his departure just before his team played for a national championship, but maybe winning that title softened the blow?

Hopefully we don’t find out firsthand this April.

You (not specifically you) are married to an ugly woman and they divorce and leave you, then you remarry a hot woman and then they divorce and leave you. The end result is the same.

If you want to be a cuck because you were married to a hot woman who left you then that's your choice.
And said hot woman drained your bank account (roster) on her way out the door.

Honestly if you leave and don’t go to PSU but go bigger and get yourself a bag, I respect it. Good for Jontez.

I'm starting to wonder how many guys ultimately follow Campbell to PSU compared to what he expected. Rocco seems like a given, but the rest of the studs are going to have pretty lucrative options.

I didn't like the hire at the time and still don't. He can definitely prove me wrong and I'll support the program no matter what. The guy just doesn't seem very well liked.
I would agree with you if the knock was "He is not very well RESPECTED" liking and respecting do not always equate.

Really depends on what they have in house already, who fits what they want to do and if some guys are willing to come for a little less than others might give them due to their relationships with the staff

Unpopular take:

If ISU were to blow a disproportionate chunk of its NIL budget to bring Brahmer back out of spite I’d be OK with it.

No pedo?

These are shocking me.
Williams was All-Big 12 level cornerback. And he played in a defense that only rushed 3 guys. Based on his results at Iowa State, he was going to get some blue bloods offering him good money.

The big question maybe how is his knee and will he be ready to go game 1. But those 3 schools could give him time to get 100 percent, hope to get him at a discount and have a stud CB by time conference season rolls around.

Incoming joke of when does ND's conference season start?
