Fall 1975 there was a lot of grumbling. I was attending Iowa State. Lots of fans unhappy with Earle Bruce’s third straight 4-7 season. But the team was improving even though the 4-7 record wasn’t an improvement. But the Cyclones were rewarded the next year with an 8-3 record that included the Luther Blue kick return against Nebraska in that epic win.
Your previous post said people wanted him fired after three 8-3 seasons. I was there for the last 8-3 year and that wasn't the case at all.

He had all the leverage, there is no way he didn’t agree to this if he didn’t like it. That’s just not how this works. PSU was on their 5th or 6th choice there is no way they are giving this on cmc or him accepting it. It’s a recipe for disaster
They also laid out $70M guaranteed and a $30M NIL budget. You're just being obstinate if you think there weren't some demands on that side of the table.

Did you stop halfway through my post? I mentioned that part of the reason was to avoid losing most of the players.

I get that there's some need to cope and that assuming that Matt's going to hate it at Penn State probably feels good, but Penn State was the desperate ones.

Got it, so CMC turned down all these high paying jobs in the past just to take one and be potentially undermined from the beginning

PSU was desperate and CMC was their last ditch attempt, the demands were coming from CMC not from PSU.

You've been the one arguing about the validity of these stories with him turning down other jobs. You're insane if you think Penn State just says "come in here and do whatever the f**k you want". There were certainly demands on both sides of the table.

Given that I never said or implied that any of those 3 (or any other crappy players) were going to paid any kind of real money to stay, you can stop inventing arguments. I don’t know what else to tell you.

I think it’s highly unlikely that Rodgers ran off any of our top LBs because he doesn’t think they can play in his scheme. “We didn’t want him anyway” is just a typical fan mechanism
Our LBs are not very good. McLaughlin was good earlier in his career but didn't look good after coming off injury. Ebel was ok. Bacon is ok. Willich is always hurt...

It's possible that Rogers asked our guys to leave, but who knows. Bacon hit the portal early so I'm guessing he was asked to join Campbell at Penn State.

No big deal, imo. I like the way Washington State uses their LBs and the guys we had probably don't fit that style of play. We are gonna be better at LB moving forward.

Yep, exactly. So if we’re saying those rumors/reports are valid then it makes that take that he accepted this just for the money not make sense.

No he didn’t get the say to do whatever he wants but that’s a far cry from being able to pick his staff the way he wants which is the baseline for just about any of these type of hires.

PSU was in desperation mode

Sorry Friendly Spartan I didn’t save the link, it was on one of my news feeds. You can call me a liar, but that’s what it said.
No I just wanted to read it. I like looking at the sources. Not calling you a liar at all but in this day and age with any type of reporting you have to check.

Think of all the posts people have put on here that have been from spoof accounts or just fake accounts that look legit.

Totally believe you saw it, just don’t believe that it’s accurate

Went back and glanced at page 1 again to see the list. Might as well just post an image of the roster for "outgoing" at this point. lmao

Strangely, I am excited more for this offseason than I have been for any other offseason for quite awhile. Good luck CJR, make this a fun ride please.

Bacon is more middle backer in a 4-3. His hole filling and edge setting are weak. He can tackle, usually from behind because of poor anticipation. Ebel wanted to throw shoulders and not wrap up so you would see backs either bounce or spin off and and keep going.
Giggity

You’re on a roll this week with takes that you can’t prove. At least not anymore than those who are taking differing viewpoints.
Yep that’s why when people say they have sources I ask for them. Otherwise I’m just using logic. Always happy to be proven wrong with sources

The D-Line is shaping up very nice.

The Moore-Hawk combo at DT will be nice - question is how do we build in the edge room with Gilbert.
Limbaugh was a nice recruit and he was quick to announce he was staying as well. Trey Verdon hasn't said yet, he'd also be nice to hang on to.

Gotta wonder if Jimmy has been prioritizing that group a lot.
