Brother, it’s hard out here for a Southside business man…you got to adapt and overcome.

That includes wearing multiple hats and wrangling family members…

Agree that Bacon and Ebel were gone regardless likely. From a system perspective, it's pretty easy to see why Goodwin and Willich are staying and guys like Brezina and Klosterman haven't. Can't be slow and play in this system, need to be fast and cover some territory.

I’m looking forward to the Gilbert kid, linebacker coming off redshirt. I’m told he is very fast

100% agree

as big as a d*ck as he can be - his sense of humor is relates to mine. he runs laps around CW on the humor side of things.
This is my problem with Hassel, he talks sports and know absolutely NOTHING about sports. I don't expect Jeff Woody Xs & Os breakdown sports every podcast, but I at least want some good info and he offers none.

But I agree, he is great at being a clown to try to make you laugh. His trolling is obnoxiously dumb, though. I'm glad CW doesn't go to the lengths Hassel does when it comes to that.

This might be just coincidence, but if you look at the profile descriptions for 2025 roster, some of the portal entrants say they transfered after 2025 year and some of those who are in the portal don't have a 2025 section yet.. I thought it was just based on entry date, but some of the first to enter do and some don't.. probably doesn't mean anything, but sort of odd...

WAZZU 2025 defense stats versus ISU 2025:
  • 3rd Down Conversion Pct Defense
    • W: 35 (35.2%), ISU: 62 (38.8%)
  • 4th Down Conversion Pct Defense
    • W: 7 (33.3%), ISU: 36 (45.8%)
  • First Down Defense (Given Up)
    • W: 20 (216), ISU: 16 (211)
    • WAZZU played 13 games so per game Wazzu was 1 per game better
  • Red Zone Defense
    • W: 10 (72.7%), ISU: 62 (83.3%)
  • Rushing Defense/game:
    • W: 35 (125.2), ISU: 49 (138)
  • Scoring Defense
    • W: 30 (20.23), ISU: 29 (20.17)
  • Sacks Forced (season total)
    • W: 37 (31), ISU: 127 (13)
  • Tackles for Loss (per game)
    • W: 75 (5.3), ISU: 89 (5.0)
  • Total Defense (per game)
    • W: 15 (299.5), ISU: 56 (356.5)

We can all agree ISU had a pretty good defense this past year. CJR's team at Wazzu cleared in most stats, especially sacks.
Nice work but hard to get much meaning from two teams that aren't in the same conference and played completely different teams with different offenses.

Does anyone have a good explanation on how Penn state is going to 'Spend" 30 million dollars. The entire athletic department is 20 million cap. The extra 10-15 million assuming some other sports are supported under the cap needs to be real NIL deals (deals out side the university) that are approved by a audit committee. When does this Audit committee review and approve? is it ahead of time where they can then promise this ? Are they deals set up separately that will be reviewed at a later date with risk not being approved?
The same way ISU used to create NIL opportunities for players when We Will existed. Players get paid, contractually, for appearances organized by the fundraiser. If the rate card for appearances is coming out of the department as a mediator, it presumably will launder the money and the department can take the check and pay the player.

They say no press is bad press. I am seeing ISU all over the place being used as the poster team for everything that is wrong with NIL, the transfer portal, and the current state of college sports. Could we be the catalyst for change? It wouldn't be the first time something we did caused a major shift in college sports (or at least we like to think so). Maybe it will be like when we helped end the BCS. Although in hindsight that hasn't worked out too well for us.

IMO Rogers probably did run off existing roster LB's for a few reasons:
  1. Rogers looking for more speed than guys on current roster.
  2. Rogers not willing to pay what players wanted.
  3. With a 4-2 defense, just don't need the same # of LB's on the roster vs. 3-3 defense.
  4. Rogers wanting to develop/pay younger players. Guys who can grow with his program vs. guys who start in 2026 and then graduate.
  5. Rogers plans on bringing in LB's who Rogers feels are an upgrade based on his system/approach.
6. He watched the Cincinnati game.

Decent chunk of this fan base still thinks it’s Rhodes not Rhoads. The Rogers misspelling will always exist unless we come up with some catchy for way fans to remember.

Rogers - Leave the D on the field
Rogers - Hold the D

Or if we turn against him

Rogers - Has no D.
I blame Aaron Rodgers. Before him, the most famous Rogers/Rodgers was Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.
