To them its all about the story, I mean for chit sakes two years ago Campbell didnt even know who a starting linebacker was at the WV game, and then the young man played pretty damn good and boom big story about how mom and dad couldnt leave the farm. LOYALTY has been removed from the dictionary in all of life. We have no one to blame other than ourselves for the money we ALL give to watch a brown ball, self inflicted wounds hurt the worst. Keep buying those cardboard pizzas boys because it will someday pay off

One thing that didn't cross my mind initially, but the techniques guys play on defense will be night and ay different than what they've done previously. I listened to a podcast with Rogers former coach and he said something along the lines of "Cyclone fans better be ready for something totally different on that side of the ball." Makes some sense that they would want to bring in new guys over there familiar with their style. For example, he mentioned they play a lot of press man on the outside. Guys like Jontez could absolutely do that, but they've built a career (and value) on playing in a very different system.

Heard from someone last night who knows the family that conversations have taken place about Palano coming to ISU.

He's from Chicago and followed Rogers from SDST, so the odds are pretty good it will happen.

IMO that is exactly where Rogers is going to get kids in the portal. Sure Rogers might get some younger backup players from P4 schools who are blocked because of a returning starter. But most portal guys are going to be G5/FCS starters looking to make the jump up.

Just a reality of Iowa State being in the bottom third of P4 schools based on House/NIL money to pay players.

Just like Campbell, Rogers will need a great eye for players who fit his system/culture and can be developed through S&C and coaching.

Also see TJ, bball is a bit different but our place in the pecking order is similar. Tj built his program on mostly g5 kids that were good fits.

Bidding isn’t going up…it’ll be going down for most of these guys imho. Too many options, and coaches and schools are wising up to the costs and inability to buy a championship or even a season.

Not so sure. There is a billion dollars plus out there to pay players. Guys may not get what their agents promised. But the money in year 2 post House Settlement is A LOT more than year 1. So guys who were getting little or no money at their current school will get a nice bump.

And nice may mean going from $50k to $100k for a backup type player.
