***Official portal tracker thread***

I'm not looking at the number of players leaving the ISU roster and the building of the new roster with any confidence of the end point until the date that the NCAA has set arrives. The current situation is consistent with what Primetime did at Colorado upon his arrival with roster reset. Pretty apparent Rogers has reviewed film and assessed returning players fit and met individually with each player with a Come To Jesus Meeting. Do not underestimate the opportunity for Rogers to offer immediate PT to incoming portal experienced players and of course $$$.

Campbell demanded loyalty from his players. When he left, the loyalty to him didn’t. So Rogers needs to know if the players were invested in ISU or Campbell. Those invested in Campbell are best to be shown the door.

These late entries could very well be happening as Rogers finding a guy and then telling the old player, hey it may. E best to portal because this new guy is going to fit the bill better than you. It may be why we see a slow roll, as the replacements get found, the old guy gets his watch and shown the door.

Also, if you have your agent doing the talking, I dont think Rogers is the type to want to mess with that. He is too busy to screw around with a guy whining his player needs another 10k.

You want a good example of the effect NIL has on mid majors? Try Memphis. Their best sports are women’s soccer, football and men’s basketball. The best players on those sports are either in the portal or have transferred. Big 12 picked up their best player in Men’s basketball.

Important to remember Rogers said in his opening presser he anticipated some necessary roster turnover in lowering the # of DB's and increasing the # of guys on the DL since we no longer will have 5 DB's on the field at the same time with a 4 man front.

Also important to remember that because we won't have 5 DB's we will need LB's who can keep up with RB's and TE's.

The DL is the only one we really want to limit turnover on. Every other position will be largely scheme-based fits. Losing the stars sucks, but just about everyone else on that side of the ball is very replaceable

Correct. Albaugh went to school at DMACC.

I'm pretty sure he donates to ISU, but not to the level that would be game changing. I'm also pretty sure his son-in-law is a pretty big ISU fan. They routinely name some of their race horses with some sort of ISU theme. My favorite is below....

Horses…the investment that makes giving millions to teen agers seem like a good investment. Lol

I know it's tough to hear of these departures. As our coach, CMC did a really good job getting kids to stick around in this NIL area when he was coaching. Our retention:NIL had to be one of the best in the country. We were losing maybe a starter a year to the portal? Flip side of that is what has happened since he left: kids who were loyal to him are now looking to go with him to PSU, get their bag, or start fresh elsewhere.

New coaches definitely tell players to leave. When it comes to Cooper though, they don’t tell the best players to leave. I can’t imagine the staff telling Cooper to hit the road.
If I were a coach, if a player was on the fence, I would recommend they enter the portal. Not to sever ties but to make sure the player finds the right fit. I would still recruit them if I wanted them, but until they see what else is available, you wouldn't know if they were completely sold old Iowa State.

Some were told your heading with me to PSU, you in or out, For a majority they were told nothing from the new staff other than we have no anwers until after the portal closes because we havent evaluated you yet, we cant gaurentee anything NIL/Scholorship after May, so they left it on the boys to choose, then the coach can keep his ego, reduce the roster and rebuild. Jimmy pulled the same chit at SDSU and they were pissed. Jason Eck is who should be ISUs coach, Jimmy is nothing more than telling the fans what they want to hear, like Campbell and full of smoke the rest of the day. To them its all about the story, I mean for chit sakes two years ago Campbell didnt even know who a starting linebacker was at the WV game, started eating JH's ass, and then the young man played pretty damn good and boom big story about how mom and dad couldnt leave the farm. LOYALTY has been removed from the dictionary in all of life. We have no one to blame other than ourselves for the money we ALL give to watch a brown ball, self inflicted wounds hurt the worst. Keep buying those cardboard pizzas boys because it will someday pay off
