***Official portal tracker thread***

Exactly and it's what makes this job and other mid-level jobs so hard to be consistent at. We can find success picking off talented D2 players. It's going to be hard putting a playoff level team on the field like that tho.
We won't be relying on D2 players or even FCS players. This year it might look different because of the coaching change and big time roster turn. So I'm sure Rogers will use the portal extensively.

But go-forward, it won't be different than Campbells approach- recruit a lot of 3 star kids and develop them. But the staff will need to be prepared to lose kids because of the money aspect. So next man in!

I love Bruns. I always value his insight. He is the real deal.
I love Bruns too and appreciate his insight. I think what he’s saying is being taken out of context a bit. He also had a little spat with Matt after calling Matt’s team soft as a sideline reporter and Matt took that personally. Bruns took a step back after that and spoke about it on a pod.

Look, Matt is doing what’s best for Matt. I think they are probably losing more than they thought they would, but announcements are delayed because PSU hasn’t played in their bowl game yet. Obviously his former guys are the low hanging fruit.

Matt was great for Iowa State. The players have been great for Iowa State. There’s no conspiracy here.

Jimmy said himself he will be brutally honest with the players. If that’s new for them they might not appreciate it yet. Probably leading to more attrition than we suspected.

Hopefully the CF staff can build some ties with the new regime and we can get a better perspective on the situation as we refill our roster.

Season ticket sales probably hinge on how the PR goes moving forward for this year atleast.

In the long run, I hope that Iowa State earns a good reputation for actually writing the checks, and fulfilling their NIL payment obligations to players. Colorado, and others seem to have had an issue in this regard. Even if we do not have the highest advertised NIL budget, having a stable and professional approach will pay dividends. Especially for recruits where this might be their biggest payday; those with a very outside shot at pro football.

My thinking is this present situation with college football is unsustainable. Something will rise from the ashes of this mess…if it ends up being an SEC/BIG division that is unregulated like now..I hope ,we’re in a division where it’s more like football was a couple of years ago. Even the NFL has rules…this is the Wild West.

Jimmy might have contacts but will HS football players really know what Jimmy will have to offer in the new ISU.

My nephew's son is a 28 recruit with contacts from CMC, Iowa, NE and others. He has no idea who Jimmy is.
I'd say Rogers is ready to pounce.

By 2028 CMC will be only be recruiting the Great Lakes & NE Region. Ferentz will be retired. And Ruhle will bolt before he gets fired.

He’s 100 percent correct. Campbell only cares about Campbell and his loyal circle.

My son knows two of the players transferring. One of them told my son that apparently Campbells staff is telling the ones they won’t bring to PSU they should be looking as it’s no longer the same ISU anymore.

I’ve posted in another thread about how the shine of Campbell went away after I learned about his fragile ego and many NDAs attached to former coaches. It would appear he ego is so fragile that he can’t handle a successful Iowa State without him if the above is true.

Now that he’s gone I hope people see that he really is no different than any other self absorbed college coach that is only in it for themselves.
So why is Campbell trying to sink Iowa State? Is it to show everyone that he is such a great coach that the school will collapse without him? Or is he pissed that he played the “I’m leaving” card and didn’t get a huge contract extension like some of the other great coaches did? Either way the Cyclones will continue without him.

He’s not trying to actively sink Iowa State lol
