***Official portal tracker thread***

You guys are missing the point. That washington state team had a 2 million dollar budget and its first year ever with the pac 12 completely dissolved so much uncertainity and basically regulated to a g5 conference and he had to RECRUIT 75 new players was hired after the portal already opened and took that team to 7 wins with 2 extremely close loses to playoff teams at their home field and another to a top 25 virginia team.

We have 15 million dollar budget in a stable p4 league. We are going to be just fine. We are going to keep some good players and depth. We are going to hit the portal in a much less uncertain and positive situation and we are going to compete and honestly I think we are going to surprise a lot of people and clearly a lot of those people are in our own fanbase. But for gods sake lets not make it harder on our coaches who choose to be here and lets support them !
Hell yea!

I’m not a hugely optimistic person on whole, but I think we won the lottery here.

MC without Heacock is a real ?

We’re gonna be just fine.

I was in Indy last night.

I would say I probably watched (and this is a complete guess) 60% of every snap Brock Purdy took at Iowa State. home and away. Maybe 80-90% including TV.

I wasn’t that close to examine his mechanics compared to his Iowa State days, but his throws were so freaking perfect, with velocity and timing.

A lot of crossing routes 10-15 yards deep and he would “throw them open”.

Not just on the deep ball, but throw them open on the crossers and posts…..and no offense to the WR group, but it was Juaun Jennings, Kendrick Bourne, and Demarcus Robinson.

Think about that!

Yes, Kittle and CMC are a huge part, but he delivered so many dimes and picked apart a struggling Colts defense better than anyone has so far.
Lest we forget, Indy has/had the #1 rated d against the run.
I wouldn't have known, during the game

We have a bunch of coaches who know what it takes to win national championships which is hard at any level. Now they have a better resources and selling points to get better talents and with championship habits lets see. Im really excited to see what they can do and this might be just the change we needed to finally get over the hump. Who knows but whats the point of thinking anything else?
Best post yet

Thank god Konrardy is staying. Back in November, I was able to get his autograph on the Register’s sports page where he got the go ahead field goal against Iowa from 2024. I also got the article framed before Campbell left. So thank you Kyle for staying and making that quite an ISU fan collector’s item.

Kind of wish he had left now. If there is one position on the team that should bleed cardinal and gold, it’s the QB.

There won’t be a player we could lose that I’ll miss more than Hansen, but there won’t be one I’m more frustrated with than Rocco. As I said before, he should have rallied that team to play in the bowl game. He does that…and owns what he’s doing (have a press conference to say he did just that but feels it’s timed to move on), I don’t think I’d have a problem with it.
Awaiting word on Abu.

We have 23 players in the portal, to my knowledge, to Penn State's 6. I was thinking that Campbell is such a genuine guy that a lot of Nittany Lions could end up staying put, which is potentially good for us. Most of our top players have left, and a few more will go, but there's a chance we can hang on to a few. It would be nice to retain some younger guys that have potential, and hopefully a few experienced upperclassmen to lead the team.

He had 1 recruiting class, at an outpost that makes Ames look like New York City.
People aren't putting enough stock in this.

Pullman is a nice place, but it is an outpost like you said. Ames is double in size and has Des Moines 35-45 mins away. KC, Omaha, Minneapolis all 2.5-3.5 hrs away. Chicago & STL 5-6 hrs away. There is a much bigger pool of talent in the midwest for him to recruit.

Tacoma & Seattle are 4.5 hours away from Pullman. Spokane 1.5 hours away. Boise 5.5 hours away.

Martin Stadium is nice. Jack Trice Stadium is better (and nearly double in size 32k to 63k)

WSU has a good fanbase (anyone who went to Alamo Bowl 2018 knows this.) Iowa State is crazier and bigger in numbers.

Iowa State has better facilities, not even a question. WSU was unfortunately left basically in a G5 conference after the P5 Pac 12 dissolved. Iowa State is still very much safe in a P4 Big XII conference.

Iowa State has 3-4x the NIL recruitment budget that WSU has.

Coach Jimmy Rogers will have so much more to work with. If he can construct a team replacing 70 players to a place like Pullman and go 7-6, there is NO reason to believe he can't be at least as successful at Iowa State.

We don't have the warchest of resources overall to compete with PSU (clearly) but ISU is far from poverty and sitting better compared to most CFB programs out there.
