Rocco's girlfriend goes to Florida, FWIW. And Florida, FSU, USF, and UCF will be looking for a new starting QB next year, as theirs are all transferring out
That’s a wild revelation. Figured he’d have a gf in Ames.

I’ve see that his dad supposedly wants him to stay at ISU. I’d think being a ‘company guy’ and a leader shows a lot to NFL scouts in today’s NIL world. He’s not going to be a top round draft choice regardless of where he goes next year. I’m guessing this is what his dad’s sources are saying as well. Play to your strengths.

Another one of Grunk’s quotes- “What stands out is his (Campbell) culture and how he develops quarterbacks.”
Grunk’s not going anywhere and Rocco will have to decide if he wants to compete with Ped St’s returning 4 star QB.
I can’t see Rocco going to Penn State because of this reason. I get the feeling he will stay, but that just might be gas. But also what school is going to pay him more than what he’s getting here(1.5million I read) after an injury that needed surgery. He might as well give it one more senior season here.

Did he mean this in a good way or bad way? Only half kidding… Purdy famously needed to rework his throwing mechanics after leaving Iowa State and Becht (while I love the guy!!) has been roughly the same player for a while now. Otherwise nobody else - Park, Noland, Kempt, Dekkers - really had time to show any development.

UCF & FSU, probably. I could see Jake Retzlaff transferring to follow Sumrall to the SEC, he has one year left following this season.

Also, there are going to be some "high profile" QBs on the market. Sorsby & Mestemaker come to mind.

Just considering things rationally, if Rocco has a path to the NFL he's going to have to be a starter to get there. Best option to do that is right here, unlikely to happen in Happy Valley. Although he can probably get paid elsewhere with a commitment to start, he's giving up the ISU record books and absolute permanent legend status in Ames to be a one year rental anywhere else. His level of comfort with the OC and QB coach will go a long way in getting him to stay I think.

It's all conjecture at this point, but I would expect Rocco to start at PSU if he goes there just because CMC knows him and trusts him. If the competition is close at all, then Rocco has that advantage.

As for ISU, as of now we have two known players, Roskop and this kid from Wazzu, Watkins. So, 2 down, 103 to go?

I don't even see Rocco as a 3rd on an NFL bench at this point. I'd normally agree that staying gives him his best chance, but with what could be a totally different offense, he'd probably be best to find the O that best fits what he thinks he can promote from his skill set.

I'm in training and can sue the NCAA for eligibility if we need help.

Rumors are Sorsby is going to Texas Tech (his girlfriend plays volleyball and just transferred to Tech) and Mestemaker will probably follow his coach to Oklahoma State

A good OC, which we are rumored to have, will adapt an offense to their QB's skillset, and put them in the best situation to succeed. Not to mention if RB comes back, he'll hold every ISU QB record

Full disclosure I never thought Brock would be more than a 3rd string, locker room guy, willing to do whatever they need in the NFL.

As OP pointed out, he clearly made changes after ISU that helped tremendously. But I’m sure SF took him for the same reason I think Rocco will get a look.

Barring a break out year, I don’t see him getting drafted above the 5th round. Breakout years are hard to predict. Being a locker room leader, and glue guy is much easier to control.

Staffs change in the NFL as well. Sometimes despite the team or players will.

We get caught up in the game day stuff…but it’s a business at the end of the day. You need stars. But you also need locker room glue guys.

I wouldn’t expect him to get drafted high, just an interesting note, he technically meets all the “Parcell rules” for a draftable qb if he finishes his degree.

Rules are:
Senior qb
3 year starter
Finished degree
23+ wins
60%+ completion percentage
2-1 td to int ratio

Going to Penn State kind of makes sense but I think any other offers in the portal would be lateral moves at least career-wise.

A breakout year seems unlikely at ISU with all the changes. I don't think he's the guy teams would go for if they were going all-in on a big NIL year.

I think Rocco will have a better starting point than Purdy did going into the NFL. He has a more lively arm & I feel will test better going through the camps for the draft, etc. His accuracy improved this season from last, but the numbers don't show it due to drops from WRs & also playing through injury.

Think he'll have the range between a Chase Daniel-type career & Drew Brees. Said the same thing about BP. Lot has to do with what organization he goes to, which BP lucked out immensely on. Hoping Rocco stays, ISU has a great season, and he ascends to the top of all QB records while getting drafted, sealing his legacy.
