***Official portal tracker thread***

It will be interesting to see where the majority of the players leaving do end up. I am sure a lot will go to Penn State, which seems normal today to have players follow their coach, but I wonder how much demand there is going to be for some of these guys.

You have no idea what any of the conversations were between the new staff and returning players. Some left because they want more money. Some were asked to leave because the new staff wanted a different type of player.
Interesting that all the young defensive line stayed.
Spinning the fact that we can’t afford to keep our players now (we did a pretty good job last year) as a positive for the new staff is quite a stretch. That sounds like quite a hurdle for the program to overcome.

Running backs in the portal are ranked similarly to Sama.... (3* and near 86-88)
High Jr Cal
Tabb Fr Stanford
Ard Fr Boise St
Gage So UCF
Steward So Kansas
Willis So Syracuse
Dodds Fr Baylor
Goff Fr Pitt
Guillory Fr Utah
Ijeboi So Minn
Hubbad So WV
Jones Jr Duke

I quit looking. And these are just the 3* kids.
So, if people think they are worth a huge check, there are a ton of RBs in the portal. Scarcity drives costs up, abundance drives costs down.

In today’s world - pretty much all teams are needing players to transfer in to fill roster gaps. That doesn’t mean it’s an improvement for the player or the team - it’s just musical chairs in many cases.

There will definitely be guys who left who can’t play at this level, and likely would have done so without the coaching change.

I'm not spinning anything. Iowa State has a lot of players to bring in. Doesn't make sense to pay $2 to $3 million on a running back that has 1 year left. I would rather spend that money on 4-6 additional players that can have a larger impact.
Some of our players took less money in prior years and are no longer doing that when the coach they came to play for is no longer here.
Some players are not good enough for the NFL so they are going to go to the highest bidder. Loyalty no longer matters.

The obsession with this is weird.
Absolutely, it’s hilarious that every time a college athlete prays about what to do, God counsels him to take more NIL money.

Yes, I realize 90% of the players use the same transfer announcement template, most ending with “with that said, I will continue my career at School X.” You just gotta laugh at it.

Over half ISUs team was good enough to play for a P4 program that won 11 and 8 games the past two seasons, but are not good enough to play for another P4 school?
Lots of talented kids, but I think the general perception was FCMC did more with less talent. We often saw this in the all conference stuff. Guys seemed undervalued. It may hurt kids in the portal too.

Agree, it appears we had players staying for less money out of loyalty before and that was a huge benefit to the program. Hopefully in the future the new staff gets the same benefit. In the meantime, that means the level of player we had on recent teams is not affordable. A sobering realization.

No the constant obsession of people here with players mentioning God.
