If you don’t think the new staff is telling some of these guys to look for other opportunities I don’t know what to tell you.
They absolutely are. Different sport obviously, but I mentioned before that my daughter's softball coach was fired after the end of her junior year. New coach brought in right away, and her first move was to ask every rising junior and senior to transfer. My daughter declined, but her two roommates transferred-- two days after they signed the lease for the coming year. Funny thing is in almost every case the replacement the coach brought in didn't produce as much as the girl that left. And of course my favorite part, after being featured in the pitching rotation her sophomore and junior years, she got 14 innings her senior year. ******* hate that coach and the school is never getting a dime from me again.

Back to the point- having gone through it from a parent's perspective, and seeing it happen everywhere in every sport... yes, absolutely yes, CJR is asking some players to transfer. Probably a lot of them. Football is probably the sport where this kind of roster management is most important. Margins are slim for coaches and the honeymoon is over quick.

I am no insider by any means- but heard something very similar. Purdy reminded Matt that the two of them had not completed what they wanted to accomplish at Iowa State. Something like that.

So if Jimmy can flip him back, will some of you morons stop puking on his commits & talking crap?
Probably not. For some, it's just "a bridge too far..." (I'll let myself out)

I think I have moved Penn State up near the top of my list of most despised college programs. Sanderson moving on to PSU in April 2009 - taking key guys from the roster with him & costing us a potential Natty in 2010 - put the Nittany Lions on my crap list. Then the Sandusky/Joe Paterno victim abuse travesty placed them even higher up on that list. Now, with Campbell leaving us without what would have been a VERY SEASONED, play-off/championship caliber roster in 2026 - PSU is now in the top three of my most hated programs. I'm not sure who I'll be rooting for in the Nebby-Penn State or Iowa-Penn State football matchups going forward. (Had Cael stayed one more year/ had Matt stayed just one more year - ah what could have been!)
Interesting take. What part of this season's 4-game losing streak (including to Colorado) made you think "man, we're *so* close ... just wait til next year!"??

Sorry to say, but if the staff couldn't bring home a conf champ with what we had coming back in 2021, I don't think CFP was going to happen anytime soon (and especially not next year).

He’s going to Penn State
That can't be true, right?

Penn State is known as Linebacker U. Ebel should consider himself lucky to be 3rd string there... unless Matt is just going to play way lesser talent over better talent just because?

This is all going to be SO interesting to watch pan out. If Ebel is starting at Linebacker U... those fans are in for a Matt Campbell special kind of season I tell ya.

Maybe Matt does care more about ruining ISU than he does about making PSU great? Wouldn't shock me honestly.

Praise Jebus!
Praise Jesus indeed. Also, I have a peer at work that types IMs just like Cael's tweet. He puts a ! at the end of every sentence! Doesn't matter if it's to report that the servers are down! Or his best friend just got fired! Every single sentence! Always very excite!

Traitors all and not worth wasting breath or time on. Good riddance. Most will go to FCS as they were jumped up to P4 . If CJR can’t recruit we will be ready for G5 status! NIL is okay for players but fans get screwed. I don’t care what happens to any of these players who worship money!

Awkward when we welcome in a large number of "traitors" in a few days/weeks

Fair enough. Think of ALL the injuries to our defensive backfield - which is what led to the Cinci loss (we let up SOOOO many big plays because we were decimated at that position and starting players who were VERY green!). Our offense was good enough to win the game had we had our "1st game of the season" defensive roster intact. Also, Rocco got injured BADLY in that game & it affected his effectiveness the rest of the year! Next year, had Campbell not left & we kept almost our entire roster (which I believe was very likely), that D-backfield & linebacking corps would have been extremely experienced and talented. With a healthy Rocco and another off-season of growth for the QB backups & receiving corps - our path to the B12 c'ship was looking pretty good.

Softball and football are two different worlds. Football needs way more numbers and you have a coach moving up a level so most likely he's trying to keep everyone he can. Plus ISU is a team that doesn't seem to have a lot of attitude problems. I know another Big 12 school that went through this and the first thing the new coach did was try keep almost everyone and recruited them to stay. He still lost quite a few.
