Yep... purely a business now.

If Jamison Patton's agent says that his client will come back to ISU, but he wants $500k... then Jimmy is right to say... "don't let the door hit you on the way out buddy!".
If Patton wanted more than the minimum, I would have told him to hit the road.

19 days ago, Coach Campbell said in his introductory press conference that he wanted to meet with every player in three or four days.

You mean Matt didn't live up to his promise?? Wut? And... he didn't even make it to their bowl game either?

Yikes... sounds like the current PSU players need to start hitting the portal... and fast.

Tell me how this OL prospect below, that switched from WSU to ISU, is any worse of a prospect than what we've been getting under Campbell? Video looks just as promising as any of our commits IMO, but I'm no OL expert either.

You mean Kuol Kuol at 90, Bandhauer and Tompkins at 88 and Vaea at 86 rating. All had multiple P4 offers. OL recruiting was starting to improve. We're back to where we started under Campbell.

What’s your solution? Not really sure what you expect them to do in this situation.

As a Christian, these letters/posts by all of these transfers infuriate me (BTW, I am not referencing HS recruits - they are committing to a coach and I will not criticize their social media posts in regards to their recruitment). I agree with Ben Bruns - let the player thank the university and fans for the support but then just admit WHY you are leaving. E.G. "I committed to Campbell & am going with him," or "I am uncertain as to my fit in the new system coming in, so I will explore other options," etc. And, for the love of God, stop invoking His or His Son's name into your letters. It reads like, "All glory to God/Jesus because I no longer will be attending/competing for ISU (or WSU for that matter)." It is deeply cringey (offensive too) and just makes non-Christian and Christian fans alike ticked off because you look like a phony/hypocrite. I have lost a LOT of respect for all of these players! Again, it has nothing to do with them wanting to move on - it's that they seem to have no self-awareness of the situation. It'd be similar to me placing a Jesus bumper sticker/license plate on my car and then drive like a bat out of hades - that's a terrible look and a terrible representation of one's faith.

84 is a pretty low score for for 247. All but 3 of ISU's 2025 recruits were ranked higher.
Our coaches got hired because the can identify talent that fits their system and develop those kids once they get on campus.

So I trust their judgement more than any recruiting service. Plus, if we look at recruiting on a bell curve, not much distribution among 3 stars.

Jamie is easily the second person you should blame. He chose (right or wrong, only time will tell, but yikes) to move in a different direction.
Respectfully disagree...how many times does our AD have to listen to a guy say he's interested in the Lions, Jets, Notre Dame or Ohio State should they open up...hell, Purdy had to talk him out of going to USC. Matt Campbell can McCabe a big fat one for all I care now. Once he had success here, he got the roaming eye apparently. I get that that's part of the business...doesn't mean I have to like it!

What’s JP supposed to do? Fire him?

You do understand 95% of recruits in this class have already signed somewhere, right. You are only going to get someone at this point that either for some reason hadnt signed or was released, because of coaching change etc. So you have a very limited pool, of people, you have had no time to recruit.

So its either take what is available in the limited pool or go to the portal when it opens. We will see a lot of both options.

There are very very few high 3s and above that are available to even go recruit left at this point, because they all signed 2 days before Campbell bailed.

Purdy what now?

If they have conversations with the coaches and say they expect X amount of money and or a certain role that the new staff doesn't agree with, is it helpful to keep them around just because they started last year?

I think the new staff would love to keep everyone around but when they sit down and talk, business decisions are made on both sides that make a lot of the situations more mutual than it seems from the outside looking in.

The staff obviously want to win but they will get a little bit of leash with roster turnover. Having guys who are 100% here and on board with their vision is probably worth more than overpaying/overpromising someone who may not be has bought in just to win next year.

The player turnover is a lot of work for the coaches but I'm sure there are some things they actually like about having to rebuild a huge chunk of the roster. It speeds up the "get your guys in" process. We saw in bball how TJ getting to start a roster from scratch can help a coach install their own culture.
agree for the most part but it is way more complicated to build a football roster than it is to build a basketball roster. You need at least 8x as many players.
