Buckley's foul was exactly the right move. Keep fouling and they don't get a shot off if executed properly. :skeptical:

And there is no call for complaining after a victory. Feel free to start your personal meltdown tomorrow. Tonight is victory night.
Garrett did play well down the stretch. But, Colvin was in and Garrett was out when we went on the 9-0 run to tie the game...and I thought he made some key plays. Including a steal that he converted into a tough 3-point play...

yeah, because class is a perfect descriptor for the rest of this thread. Give me a break.
I'll respectfully disagree...his foul at that moment allowed them to set up an out of bounds play and get off a decent shot. He just stays in front of the player (contesting and slowing him down) he is forced to make a pass (gobbling more time) or throwing up a hurried shot.
wha?? I saw him fire one into the paint from the three point lane to i think it was hamilton. terrible decision.
he was dribbling on a fast break and i was saying quit dribbling quit dribbling, you will turn it over, you do it everytime...whoops there he dribbles off his legs and turns it over.
However, we don't win this game if he is not out on the floor. Great hustle (which he lacks sometimes) and good defense (which also lacks at times).

...and if Buck was told to foul in that situation I'll remove my bonehead comment and just say I disagreed strongly with the strategy.
I disagree with your disagree. We had fouls to give. Buckley should have fouled the shooter again, before he had a chance to square up for the shot. That would have given them the ball again, in the same spot, with about a second left. At that point, it would have been next to impossible to get a good shot off. Bad execution at the end of the halves has been quite costly this season...
Sorry, but I have a problem with a lot contained within this post. How does he know more about his draft stock than anyone else? Why should he be worrying about that to the point it's consuming him?
IMO, that's been the root of a great majority of his struggles this year, and it comes from self-doubt ("beating himself up").
An athlete of his caliber, and (his athletic caliber) has the potential to be great, has to KNOW he's great. Has to be cocky, arrogant, etc. Look at past Cyclone greats. Name one that wasn't cocky/arrogant when it came to their ability on the court. I beg you, and bet you can't name one. The only above average player I can think of who doubted himself was Stevie Johnson, and he doubted himself until Tinsley came to town. Cockiness oozed out of JT, and it's contagious.
To wrap this up, Craig played "cocky" the last 5 minutes of this game and played as well in those 5 minutes as I have seen of him since last year. He has to stop thinking and just play...with attitude.

Yeah, that decision was bad. But I did see him making moves towards the basket to get a rebound. I think we should bring Clark back to put on a little skills camp for Dendy/Gilstrap. Those two could learn a lot from what Clark was able to do.
Oh, I believe that was the gameplan. Afterwards, you could see Greg was visibly upset that we let him get the shot off, and he was seeking out Buckley. So, I'm sure that he had told him to foul...before the shot...
Actually his foul was fine. It was losing his man leading to an open 3 at the buzzer was costly.
As far as the DG CC debate goes, they have different mentalities. DG is not as physical and more cerebral than Colvin. I remember watching video of DG in high school, and it was the same thing. He looked for his spots, and was gifted enough to be able to get to the rim at will.
Colvin is more physical, and has a more aggressive mentality. He will make spectacular plays, and blow easy ones. That foul he committed at the end of the game for the three point play was inexcusable. But he has a lot of upside.
I think for Colvin to truly excel and lead this program, Mac will have to let him have the freedom to make the mistakes. And then coach him up, and improve his decision making.
In the end, I think that is how this staff has let Diante down, there has been little to no focus on improving the mental part of his game. He is a bright kid, and he makes elementary mistakes.
