***Official March Madness Thread***

But in this case you saw both. How many Iowa fans LOVED ISU getting beat by OSU Friday night? Looking at their boards, I would say about 95%. Why should ISU fans be cheering Iowa when their fans are rooting against ISU? Make no sense at all to root for Iowa in anything.

I would expect ISU fans to be thrilled with Iowa's loss, why not?

Im just saying, as a fan, I would take this result over a blowout 10/10 times. Hoping for otherwise would be ridiculous.

Losing this close will piss Hawk fans I know off more than losing by 40.

Nah not at all. The game looked over in the first half. Iowa has had a tendency under Fran to crumble when things get bad. It was just too bad the intensity in the second half wasn’t there in the first half. I never expected to beat Tennessee (or Cincy for that matter) so I was thrilled that they fought all the way back to force OT. Heck of an effort from the team to do that especially against an extremely talented Tennessee team.

I’m sure it does help that a few of them grew up cheering for the Hawks. Also helps that they are really good at flailing about wildly. That looks like effort.

JBo and Baer diving for every loose ball though! Except the loose ball is caused by them loosing it in the first place 90% of the time. Great effort.

The moral victories are really piling up!

I agree with this. I'm not so sure they would have come back & beat Cinci if he hadn't gotten into foul trouble. Iowa looked WAY BETTER without him vs Cinci - that's why they were able to creep back within 5 before half - totally changed the game momentum.

Correct; but then after disappearing in the 1st half today, Cook decides to show up in the 2nd and sparks a rally. Wildly inconsistent.

Better to have moral victories than none at all ;)

Meh. Both teams finish 23-12.

Better regular season was Iowa State.

Better conference tournament was easily Iowa State.

Better NCAA tournament was easily Iowa, but both end the first weekend.

At most, it’s a wash. I’d still lean towards Iowa State’s season, only because I was in Kansas City for the three day run.

They lost to a much better team in the round of 32. Definitely better than losing to a much worse team in the round of 64.

So moral victory and transitive property victory. All on an ISU message board. Damn it must be awesome to be a tavernhok.
