*** Official Kentucky vs #6 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Go Cyclones. I think Bateman will start for the Cyclones. We need him to step up today and his ability to keep pace with Kentucky.
I don't expect it, because he tends to disappear against the more athletic teams we play, but another double digit scoring effort from Heise would be fantastic

You rule, @CycloneRulzzz

I'm pretty nervous about Kentucky's athleticism and talent and us not having Jefferson. Just have to hope that our D down low can hang in there and our bigs don't get in foul trouble. I fully expect Lipsey and Toure to force some turnovers, but that worries me because Kentucky will probably get the calls going their way. Would be huge if we can stay hot from downtown. GO CLONES!
agree, I think people seem to forget that our nemesis has been playing against mid tier super athletic teams that some how find their shots against us. Immediately think cincinati, TCU scenario.

I hope we can focus on turning them over, stay out of fouls trouble and really move the ball and shoot it well.

I have concerns:

Mainly Mommy's ability to defend their 4 on the inside.

Also, rebounding.
Yeah, they start a 6-11 and a 7-0 guy. Then 6-5 and below. So if Heise gets the start, are they gonna chase Milan around the perimeter with a 6-11 guy or chase Heise around with a 6-11 guy?

They'll try and work things down low I'd imagine on offense with our shorter lineup but with double teams, we'll force them into more 3's that hopefully they don't hit.

Anyone else unusually nervous? I’m normally more excited than nervous for big games but this one feels different. Probably the uneasiness without Jefferson but the team looked great without him Friday.

ISU's a 2 seed but with or without JJ it would have been tough today.

KY will defend better than TSU with their athletes and film on basically an entire game without him.

I'm sure the team feels different but for me it's more the house money type of game.

Leave it out there and see where things fall.

Rebounding will be tough. Even with Jefferson we are prone to giving up offensive boards at annoying rates sometimes. That has got to be an area of weakness that comes up in the scout you would think

Not nervous. More so in an acceptance state. I'll be disappointed with a loss but the excuse is already built in for us. I do think it's possible for a win as outcome, but I'm only like 38/62 on that being the outcome.

Me.

The only thing giving me an iota of peace is that I’ve felt different about this tournament since the start. This is not a feeling I’ve had regarding a NCAA tourney and ISU before. Not sure what it is or if it’s good or bad yet

There is a flip side to Mommy playing the 4. If I was Pope I would pound it to the interior and hope Mommy fouls. Mommy needs to be tough but smart

Excuse?

It's reality that a huge cog in the machine being out makes a huge difference.

People expecting a repeat of Friday might just be out of their minds.

They can try to get things down low, but this defense is straight up designed to stop points in the paint. Hopefully ISU can turn them over a bunch and Kentucky shoots their average from 3
