Self has had a soft spot in his heart for ISU going back to the Hoiball era. I think he prefers ISU as a rival to the weirdos at KSU.

This seems accurate to me. As a ISU and KU grad, this is the rivalry I prefer. These are actually good teams going head-to-head instead of going against a mediocre in-state rival.
KU being the quasi-house money team this go around is something new.

The 5 guard transfers combined for 75 points per game last year. This year they are just under 37 points per game - and 15 of that is Mayo.
Other than Mayo - the other 4 went from 57 last year to 22 this year.
The Miss St transfer Moore was hurt (I'm guessing) but started the last 3 games and played 20+ minutes.
Given that it's Bill Self - this is a lot of gunpowder he's basically kept dry - I fully expect when late Feb / March roles around, he'll have figured out how to use it and Kansas will look like a different team.
However, that doesn't start against our guards tomorrow. They are going to struggle in Hilton
