Quite a few people actually thought that that we would WIN this game. Well, if we could have held Texas to 53 fewer points...

This was the first game in a long time that I could have watched on TV, but didn't.

What I don't understand is how ISU can get beat by 53 to the #23 ranked team at the same time Iowa upsets the # 18 ranked team. Have the players quit on the coaching staff for the second year in a row? I didn't see much effort out there. This looks a lot like last year's ISU team... very difficult to watch. I just hope the fans continue supporting the team on gameday. It was great to see a crowd of 52,000 there.

I thought we would win, or at least keep it close, based on 3 things.

USUALLY, we match up w/Texas well and play them hard.
Texas has lost 4 straight conference games
With the exception of last weeks game @TT, ISU has made improvement from week to week.

Obviously, I'm an idiot who has no business speculating about football. ISU, making opponents look great for two straight years.

Just got home from the game. At the end there was nobody sitting within 15 yards of us. This reminded me ALOT of ISU football in the late 80's and early 90's. I sure didn't see this coming, I really thought we had a decent shot at this one.

Lack of effort and lack of desire. Poor execution and just getting manhandled out there.

Teams that play with heart don't get beat by 50 points at home.

That was way uglier than even I thought, and I didn't think it would be close. McCoy looked like the best QB in the country today, but the lack of pressure and soft coverage was just what he needed to get things going. For a while there it was just that TX was barely making plays and ISU was not. In the end the Cyclones just plan looked very bad. The tackling today was junior high, at best. Hard to believe that we will not see more of the same next week.

When you can't beat Kent State or Toledo, there is no way you should even think you could beat Texas.
As far as Iowa's win. The one thing they can do is stop the run. Ill. is a running team so Iowa had a chance to keep the game close and pull out a win. Besides that the Big Eleven sucks.

I made that same comment today, it seemed like I was back in college in the mid 90s. Hoping we don't get beat by 50 and trying to see how long we can put up with bad football. This is the worst team I have seen since the 90s.

Lack of effort and lack of desire.

Ace Bowen was just interviewed on the locker room show and said there was no "want to" out there today and he said he included himself in that. He said to turn it around there can be no plays taken off.

That was the most pathetic excuse I've ever seen for football. No way we should've lost by 53 points.

Half of Texas' TDs were not even contested. It seemed like there was a receiver waiting in place to catch the ball, and a DB about 10 yards desperately trying to race towards him. They made it too easy out there.

I'm a little more disappointed in the crowd. JTS was filled to the brim, and it was a chore from the very beginning to get the crowd into it. But that all stems from performance, and ISU could not get it done where it counted.

What a waste of a day.

I was entertained at the game today

Of course that source of entertainment had absolutely nothing to do with the football game... it was fighting with Cy, Messing with the Cheerleaders, and random stupid chants.

Mashed Potatoes anyone?

The only reason Iowa won is because Ron Zook is an idiot. He accepted a penalty that gave the Hawks third and long instead of fourth down (they would have had a short field goal attempt) and they threw a touchdown pass on the following play, instead of kicking a field goal. Then he did it again when Iowa would have had a fourth and eight at around the 50. Instead they converted the third and long with a 29 yard pass. He gave that game away. At the very least, it should have gone to OT.

Thoughts from being at the game...

I felt exactly like I did back in the early 90's, not a fun feeling to be back to.

Play calling was questionable today. I've never felt that way this season before today.

Our players had absolutely no emotion heading into this game. Why they weren't pumped up is beyond me.

This was by far one of the worst poundings I think we've ever had. The score might not be the worst we've ever had but I think that's probably the worst complete game we've ever had considering this isn't an extraoridnary Texas team and we looked like *** on both sides of the ball on every drive.

There is no moral victory or any way to spin this game. I fully expect Meyer to be on the bench to start against OU and the coaching staff needs to make some major changes in all areas to even have a chance of keeping any game in the respectable range.

Once Texas scored their first touchdown, it was like a switch went off and our guys were done. They got down by 7 and that was it. It was pretty sad watching no effort today. I knew we wouldn't win this game, but come on give some heart out there when you are playing. They just got nationally embarrassed out there today and people wonder why we are not on tv more. No wins results in no tv games unless our opponent is an elite team.
