***OFFICIAL: ISU @ UNI Post Game thread!***

Lots of people bagging on Diante (deservedly so for the last 45 seconds alone, but Scotty had just a TERRIBLE game! Missing bunnies, muffing rebounds, getting beat on defense, standing around on offense...

Anybody remember that bad loss to Drake in the 99-00 season?? 48-44? I think our team will be fine if we learn from our losses. I'm not saying we're going to make an elite eight run or anything, I'm just saying that sometimes even good teams have bad/off nights, especially in in-state rivalries.

Hopefully Fred gets on them the next couple of days of the importance of offensive rebounds and taking smarter shots.

Not sure why everyone is just hating on DG, if it wasn't for his first half we were not even in this game. Everybody played like crap, and I thought the coaches coached like crap. Fred is going to half to take more control during the game. these guys simply do not have the Bball IQ to just let them play and figure it out.
Melvin was a ghost in the first half-to be expected from time to time.
Scotty played like crap, took stupid shots and played wimpy in my opinion(does he have mono again, because it looked like it.) Horrible defense, no need to triple down on o rear when your 6 ft tall and leave moran wide freekin open...just stupid.
DG good first half, and i like that he was taking it to the hoop towards the end, took 3 bad shots, but the last one he had to take. terrible defense, was responsible for 2 fouls on Melvin and at least two others where he just left his teammates hung out to dry.
JVB played one of the worst games I have ever seen, just stood around looking stupid and played like a total wimp, no rebounding, Sad when your outplayed by Railey.
Jake hit a couple of big shots down the stretch and that is about it, those were huge and show his toughness but he needs to bring it for 40 minutes.
Fred, Mix it up man, we looked like the hawkeyes on defense getting worked and not changing anything. would have liked to see a half court trap or something. I hate when coaches don't try anything. You can't speed up a slow team without defensive pressure.

To sum it up, we don't apply any defensive pressure and we don't rebound. Both are integral things if you are going to truly run and gun.

we also have to learn how to adjust to the refs, you can complain all you want but the refs aren't going to adjust to us. I like what I'm seeing, this year's team just seems to have a little more confidence and swagger. Still a lot of room to grow though.

Speaking of officiating, I thought Railey got away with 2 obvious fouls on blocked shots late in the game.

As I said before, the officiating was bad both ways. It cost us points, and it cost UNI points. It in no way cost us this game.

I know it was hard to see due to the broadcast, but both of those blocks were clean. Railey really played well tonight. He understands the game and if he can polish his offensive game, he could really be a nice player before he's done. Justin Hamilton, anyone?

Thanks, that was a fun point.

People probably won't take it real well, but that's a good point. Some of our best teams have had an ugly game.

We're still not going to win 30 or anything, but everybody has this game.

Scotty sounds depressed. I sure hope these guys bounce back.

Also, the Panther Sports Network produced the worst televised game I have ever seen. Nothing about this game was enjoyable. Nothing.

Diante and Scotty should play a little better now that their huge heads won't be getting in the way of making that extra pass.

Wow I can't begin to tell you how ****** that performance was. Kind of looked like McDoormat ball. I love Freddy but he def got out coached tonight. DG is the most selfish ******* out there. How many times did he drive the ball sucessfully?! Yet he throws up prayers. He also can't finish to save his life. The officials were terrible but they didn't lose the game for us DG did.

Chalk it up as a good learning experience for Fred and the youngsters. After all, even that dude in the seats holding up the sign has more coaching experience than Hoiberg (talk about a lame sign).

I'm disappointed in the loss, but not overly surprised. And still very excited for the future.

I was thinking the same thing. The only complaint I have about the officials is that there were some obvious fouls against UNI that were never called - very inconsistent game, but did we lose because of the refs? I don't think we did.

As for Railey, he is quickly becoming my favorite player. He has a huge chip on his shoulder as he seemed like the "odd-man-out" when Coach Hoiberg was hired, but it seems everyone on the team wants to mentor him - especially Anderson. I think he's got a decent future playing for the clones. As for the 2 fouls you mentioned - yeah, he definitely got away with those:yes:

Yes, the officiating was bad. But IMO the officiating was bad both ways. It did not cost us this game. UNI won because they executed better down the stretch.

You know why they executed better? Because the refs called Diante for a travel when he did that same move atleast 10 times earlier in the game.

The refs were **** poor, but they weren't the reason we lost. Missed shots, bad rebounding, and stupid fouls were the reason we lost the game. We should have blown the game wide open when we were up by 9.

Has anyone seen clonomaniac around?

THIS! DG shot very poorly but my god..if Scotty just has an AVERAGE game we win this by 5 or more. How many freaking bunnies did he miss? How many 10 footers? Seriously, this game was like finger nails down a chalk board...just terrible to see that many bricks.

Just frustrating because it was painfully obvious ISU was the more talented team but you gotta make the easy shots for christ sakes.

Jake Anderson was the only guy who showed some passion at all in the second half. I'll give Ejim and Godfrey a pass as they were both in foul trouble. Garrett, Christopherson and JVB looked like they didn't even want to be there. You've got to be tough to win on the road. I'm not sure we are tough enough.

The akward and sick looking running jumper(during a fast break) with a couple minutes left in the game and down by about 3 points. Ugh...I nearly punched myself in the face.
