***Official Iowa State vs Baylor Gameday Thread***

We will have a shot at WVU, KSU and OSU if we play like we did the second half and just make Lanning the starter. Especially if/when AL comes back. Not saying we'll beat all 3, but we will play right with them. Huge ifs though.

No shot at Texas?

A lot to be happy with. The running game is our strength, the o line did a nice job blocking. Defense was amazing in the second half. I don't see how we could do anything besides play Lanning the rest of the way.

I haven't kept up with the thread, so it may have already been said, but each and every coach on the staff that thought Sam was our best shot to win should be fired.

If it was truly that big of a mismatch in practice they should still be on the hook for not giving him more opportunities to throw in games. His accuracy thus far is night and day better than Sam's.

Manning for President!
which one?

I totally agree. I have been a deep critic of this team for much of the season, but I was encouraged by the ENTIRE team's performance (minus the kicker) during that stretch. Lanning brings a threat to run it & he is hard to bring down (ala Colin Klein). Now, if we can continue that type of play, and we can find kicking consistency, we can have a chance in those games.

Yeah....we have a shot. It might not be a big shot, but it's a shot. The best thing is that this game probably could have been the worst one and they can come out of it feeling a lot better than I thought they would.

So, do you regret your decision?

Not really. Kept up with it on the smart phone. Still too many three and outs and wasted possessions. It was nice they scored 27 points, but watching our offense sputter while defense plays its guts out is frustrating. Just a different version of the TCU game.

Don't worry, I'm sure he watched it hoping that Baylor would put up 80 points. I bet he turned it off once the defense made Baylor punt.

Posted in another thread. We were down to these guys 35-7 last year at half. Final score looked "respectable" but still the same result. Glad the staff made the switch at QB but still see no evidence this offense can score adequately to get another win or two this year.

And Seth Russel just walks off field lol what a *****

SO reports of Waco now say that Seth Russell does not have a concussion - simply a fractured bone in his neck could miss significant time. Maybe thats why he walked off - dejected that his season might be over....

At half time it was all about 70 for Briles. If Russell is out, I'm sure he'll feel the heat about why this kid was even playing in the fourth quarter. Just go undefeated Art. That's all you needed. Now it's in jeopardy.
