I am not a Cubs fan. So much media about them every year and they consistently stink. So many idio-casual fans roaming around E Iowa. So many db fanboys from Napervilleburg. I am happy when they lose.
It's the same as I feel about the Hawx, just attenuated by about 10x.

I hate all the attention they get. We don't live in Chicago, and they'll be lucky to finish above .500. Oh well, one thing you can count on is they will no longer be a hot topic once May rolls around.

Arrogant Cardinals fans are much more similar to KU fans. Annoying but do have the performance to back it up. FWIW I've been a Cardinals fan my whole life, never been arrogant about the Cubs rivalry, its fun, but as someone mentioned the impact on an entire season is so much less for individual baseball games and series.
It is fun to be a fan of a consistent winner, and now that we're good at basketball again most of my year can be covered by quality sports teams. Just got those pesky Saturdays in fall to worry about.

I'm a Cubs fan especially now that they are supposedly under better management from the Tribune days but what they've done to Kris Bryant is total BS.

Growing up very close to Wrigley Field, this rivalry was always a fun one. Didn't have the hatred of Yankees-Red Sox or the like.
Unfortunately, the Cubs became trendy and added a lot of fanboys like that.
Yes which means he falls one year behind on his free agency. Cubs have the money to pay him.
How would you like it if your employer held you back so you had to wait an additional year to get a huge raise? Would you stay around? Except he has no choice because of archaic free agency rules in baseball.

To be fair, the media had completely forgotten about the Cubs after Theo took over.
Now, for whatever reason, they are taking the three years they took off from the Cubs and combining it all for this year, which is completely unnecessary. The hype the media makes for this team is unreal.

That's a very apples to oranges comparison. The move the Cubs made had nothing to do with money, and everything to do with keeping Bryant under club control for an extra year. Does it suck for Bryant, I guess, but the guy will end up making a ton on money so it really doesn't matter. Why any fan of the Cubs is upset by this move is rather baffling to me.
If Kris Bryant has a good first two years, the Cubs will be giving him a 10 year contract and this 2 week thing will be moot.
The Cubs could sign him to a ten year contract at the end of this year. It's bad business in my opinion. But everything the Cubs have done is completely with in their right as an organization and more power to them.

Pretty sure I heard one of the announcers today say that Jose Abreu was the only rookie last year to start the season with their major league squad. I knew it was common to leave guys down to start the year for that extra year of control but apparently it's almost a guarantee. Makes sense and I'm happy the Cubs are going that route.
Wouldn't make them look like complete morons which is obviously what you're implying.
No I was implying they actually would be smart but it'd be horrible for the player who earned a spot on the opening day roster who would have had a guaranteed contract by then.
