***OFFICIAL FIRE MESSINGHAM THREAD***

I'll make one post tonight and then enjoy my night in Memphis..

This thread is dumb.
Messingham and burnham and Rhoads have done a fine job all season. We do not need to clean house. What we need is staff stability and some more time for the guys to fill into the system. Progress has been slower than I had hoped, but coming along.

Based on? Our QB play since he's been here has got to be among, if not the worst in the entire country. Maybe its not all on him but something isn't fitting right.

I thought our TEs looked good under him when he was coaching them. Our WRs looked better when he switched positions with Wells. I will admit our QBs don't look much better but its different coaching a spread QB than it is for one under center.

I wonder what PR will do here. It is pretty clear that we have been outcoached massively on the offensive side of the ball all year, this is not a one game thing. Say what you want about the defense today, that unit has been pretty solid for awhile now.

But the stark contrast between offense and defense is amazing right now.

Yep, we only had one tight end who could catch a ball.

Yes one TE that blocks and one TE that catches balls. Seems to me one needs to work with the line and one needs to work with the WRs. Having a TE coach really doenst add anything to the team.

The key is obviously the O line (Sam played well except for a couple of plays).

I agree though, demote to a position coach and drop a truckload of money on Tony Franklin's doorstep.

CPR is a defensive minded coach, and we need a very strong offensive coordinator to handle that side of the ball.

Mess still looks like he is rusty calling plays.

Like I said before MESS is a MESS and always will be The Off Coordinator job is just too big for him its time to either demote him or get rid of him and for chrissakes HIRE a OFFENSIVE Coordinator that knows how to exploit a blitzing defense..

Sometimes stability is overrated.

We've had this offense since 2009, and it's been garbage. We kept Walden here for 7 years, and he went winless in his last year amassing a .335 winning percentage over his ISU career.

The zone read today was awful. I could go get a beer after the snap and come back and still see White dancing around. Way too slooowww. I like the zone read and the spread normally as a system for our team. But when it ain't working, do something else. How about Woody pounding it? Woody was way underutilized this season.

That maybe a reason why he couldnt get a good up and coming young OC. What are they going to learn from him on offense to make you better as a coach? A younger OC will be better off staying put and wait to coach under someone like Gundy, than take the job at ISU. It maybe really painfull to move a coach up that has never been an OC before. He needs a guy like Mess that has been around the game and has called games, that prob will never be a HC.

Something has to change, not sure what, but offensively this season was horrid. Another year like that and this whole program is going to start going backwards real fast. We still have some momentum here, I hate to see it stopped by this.

At Iowa State, we have traditionally been able to recruit good backs. I'd prefer to recruit bigger, more athletic backs. Theoretically, getting a big offensive line should be one of our strengths as well. I wouldn't mind going to either a Pistol or Wisconsin-type of offense. The Big 12's weakness is usually smaller defensive lines, so this type of offense could exploit that. It seems like our offensive line has a pretty decent size...they are just incredibly soft.
