ATM may win the SEC next year....they may be national champs also. They have half billion stadium project. Nationally, not Texas local, they are in the football spotlight. If someone asked who has the best football team in Texas, the national people polls would say aTm.

I am just finding it hard why we chose WVU over every other possibility. Even TCU is a puzzle. I see TCU as reaching the status of a fairly good football team with the best recruits still going to UT, A&M, and Okie schools. Their bball team will probably languish. I see WVU fball recruiting being more difficult as all their neighbors play in other conferences. I see WVU bball lower tier unless BobbyH goes and recruits better athletes in NYC. Both these schools have a long ways to go to adjust to B12. Louisville would have been a quicker fit. In fact their bball is better than B12, even for a commuter school. Their football was okay. Cincy is further away from being outstanding in bball or fball. Guess I was not impressed with what WVU and TCU brought to the conference this year.

Adding TCU was a good move for football recruiting IMO. Without it (at the time), you would of had the Big 12, SEC and Big East with footprints in Texas. Texas recruiting is already going to take a hit for the northern Big 12 Schools with aTm going to the SEC, adding TCU alleviates some of that hit. Its good for ISU to be able to play 2 games in Texas each year.

And if you don't see the benefit of adding WYU, you're blind. They have a HUGE fanbase (more than 3x Louisville). Look at the ratings for the WVU and the ratings for the WVU football games last fall.

This year? Sure, they very well could have the better team, but they will never have the better brand or half of the recognition of Texas.

Indeed. And everybody in TX knows this too including Aggies. The SEC affiliation has helped them, but they are still just weird individuals.

Ok, give your reasons why he added Maryland and Rutgers. AAU status is not much of an argument to get to 14. It is mostly about eyeballs in Jersey and NYC and DC and selling BIG Network to Comcast and Verizon. This is why we need a real B12 Network so we don't have to philander with sports cable people.

I just gave you the reason. MARKETS. These moves had NOTHING to do about Delaneys concern for the bigxii or wvu.

Spot on. Yet there were posts on this site when A&M left our conference that they were just "a mid-level Big 12 program."

This is 2013.

Having lived in Virginia for five years, and I would be watching BIG and ACC football over B12. WVU will need to be nationally ranked to keep up their viewership. A more athletic bball team would be more fun to watch also. TCU and WVU need better bball teams to gain more respect at this point.

Because they were.
And gee, all it took was a coaching change. They are now kicking Texas' rear in the national spotlight. Lots of folks were here saying "A&M is no big loss, don't let the door hit ya, blah, blah, blah." Well, yeah, they kinda were...

They were. However, times change, and they are now a very fun team to watch. Very fun. Much more fun than UT. Even if I did not like them, I would now watch them.

They're not guaranteed success in the future because of a few good years, either.

It's been one year, guys...way too soon for some of the bold coulda/shoulda/woulda statements I have been reading here.

Do you have point with this or any of your posts? Go find an aTm board and kiss their ***. What should JP/ISU do about it?

Absolutely. One year!!! Let's look at it in 5-10 years and see how its played out. Our chips are already down.

I dunno, maybe we should get JP to ask aTm to come back to the B12. Can't believe we let them get away...

wasn't the 2 main reason for TCU to come in was that 1. the northern teams wanted 2 games in texas and 2 that because they were already leaving the MWC they could come in right away

Those reasons plus a saw somewhere that when A&M left that some TV execs told the B12 they needed to shore up the DFW market with TCU or potentially lose part of it with A&M.

One year ago, nobody was crying out that Louisville was a much better add than TCU or West Virginia. TCU was a razor thin margin from making their 3rd BCS game in a row and West Virginia was coming off an Orange Bowl rout of Clemson. Louisville may turn out to be a better add in the end, but for everyone looking at 2012-13 for A&M and Louisville, you need to give it 10 years before you can make a good judgment on those teams.

Louisville, even before their success this year, was a better add than TCU. No doubt in my mind.
