All of this is exactly spot on. Prohm is afraid to establish standards on effort - or you don't play.
Players don't want to get into foul trouble (heaven forbid they're on the bench and can't jack their 3's), so they mail it in in on D and then talk "tough" in interviews later.

This is bad and you should feel bad.

That would be why Jameel was suspended, and lard and Talley were suspended

Aren’t you the guy that still idolizes McCarney? To worship him, and call another coach mediocre really defeats your ridiculous faux outrage

That was last night. Doing fine today.

To respond to your post, mine was a tongue-in-cheek response to the (few) people who are losing their minds. Criticism is perfectly fine after last night (I wasn’t happy with the team at all). But we’re still a tournament team with a lot of basketball left, no matter how frustrating last nights effort was.
If you’re genuinely referencing the very few that are extremists, they lost their minds long before tonight. And after letdowns like last night, they’re no worse than their counterparts that haven’t found a comment they view as supportive enough of Prohm.

Ya the poo-slinging gets old for a team that isn’t bad at all.

Probably best to tune out the extremists for the last month, will likely be a fun/interesting ride.

First, it’s reproach.

Second, not flying off the handle over a loss isn’t suggesting he’s above said reproach.

Third, it’s not that he’s immune to criticism, it’s that the people with agendas come on here and fly off the handle. Then completely disappear when we win. That’s not about coaching.

Fourth, this team is still 19-7 and is playing for a seed, and it would be good to see how the season plays out before losing your mind.

Good catch, I fixed it.

My question was in response to the following:

Poster A: At what point do we start blaming Prohm?

Poster B: Is this sarcastic?

That to me suggests that Poster B is saying he is beyond blame for last night, and that's all I was trying to point out. Why would he be beyond being blamed for the performance last night?

I think he's a good coach and I'm far from suggesting he be fired, or on the hot seat, or anything close. But last night I saw a team that for 40 minutes couldn't pull down a rebound, and a coach that did literally nothing to try to remedy that problem. To me, that's a large contributor to why we lost last night. Now I can't guarantee trying something else would have worked. Hell, I don't know. But it's frustrating to sit there and watch the same scenario unfold every trip down the floor without something...anything... being done to stop it.

But in terms of positives, I agree with the commentators that the decision to hard-hedge and double Mason when a big set a screen was a great move. I like taking our chances on their bigs having to make a tough catch and score. I think he does a great job identifying talent on the recruiting front. He has many positive qualities. But last night he was part of the problem.

I played college athletics, what did you play besides poker and video games?

Anybody can play college athletics. I see kids every year not accomplish much in high school go "play" college athletics. Just a few years ago William Penn had 80+ kids on their basketball team.

You don't want to open that door. I can't imagine anyone who isn't OK with TJ coming in.

Conditt would have gotten broken in half by the Baylor muscle.

He wasn't broken in the KSU home loss. We were ahead, when coach took him out in favor of Jacobson's defense. Conditt was the reason we were in that game, and Prohm admitted he shouldn't have taken him out. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be effective against Baylor. We won't know, because he played 0 minutes.

Did they really choke away those games, or are they just not talented enough to win on those nights when everyone's A game is not there?
They didn't choke away this game, or the TCU loss. They were beat. Kst I'll give you, that one they should have won.

There's a reason why KU always wins, and it's not just because of their wins at home. It takes talent, and depth of talent, and they've led in that category for many years.

By choke away, I mean they lost games they shouldn’t have.

You guys just don't like me because I dont put up with BS. If a team is sucking Im going to call them out and Im not going to sugarcoat things. If they are doing things right Im all about giving them praise.

Give them praise....really:

It's halftime, and we're up 7...

Should be up 10 if we didnt have complete idiots out on the floor, let alone seniors who should be smarter than that.

You guys are completely clueless, we'll see how that 3 plays out at the end of the game. Absolutely inexcusable mistake, I would bench NWB for the second half. Only a complete moron would shoot the ball with enough time left for the other team to score.

It would be one thing if he was wide open, but it was a horrible shot.

We were up 7 at half, against the first place team on their floor and all you could do was b**** about one play.....ONE! Is that what you define as "calling them out"? Oh, then there is this nice little exchange which ties in directly to the above:

BS

You called the players moron and idiots and thought there should be a benching that certainly would have cost us the game. Nothing simple about that.

And we don't have to scan this site to find your negativity, you flail it about generously.

I've seen guys get benched for stuff like that before, especially after the coach had just instructed them to hold for the last shot and Im sure had been practiced hundreds of times before.

Funny you think by benching I meant that he never plays again. I was thinking more along the lines of a couple minutes to start the 2nd half but whatever you guys think.

Whoa........wait a minute. What happened? Are you telling us now that the "moron" that you called out for making an "inexcusable" mistake allowing the opposing team time to hit a.......HALF COURT SHOT before halftime should now only sit "a couple of minutes" for that heinous crime?

I guess thats just my competitive nature and the way I was brought up playing sports. I was brought up in an era where you worked your butt off for playing time, if you werent cutting it(aka pretty much everybody last night who refused to rebound) then my coach would find somebody who would. Or if you werent using your head you get benched until you can do things the right way. I also got my fair share of ass-chewings, something that seems to be lost nowadays on these players.

Whats funnny about Prohm is he's a huge disciplinarian when you don stuff off the court, but god forbid you give pathetic effort like last night and you still get the same amount of minutes either way. Talley is an afterthought and Lewis will never see the floor again in this program, but yet guys can do stupid stuff on the court all the time and theyll be right back out there.

"they'll be right back out there". Isn't that what you suggested should be done with a "moron"....................."a couple of minutes"?

This board is a prime example of participation trophy culture whenever something goes bad. We have one segment like myself who want to see this team reach its maximum potential, then the other half dead set on defending anything and everything with the program no matter what happens.

Oh I agree......there are way too many people who were congratulated for just waking up. And there isn't a segment like you.......there is just you.

FYI........in the case of you wanting to claim I have no life.....this took seconds upon minutes of it in the tireless and relentless pursuit of the truth.

Talley shouldn't see the floor??? We went on a 8-0 run with him in then Prohm never put him back in?

It seems like Talley has been playing very well in his limited minutes. Had a great drive for a layup against TCU and a really nice defensive play on Mason last night.

After thinking about it a while longer... and not reading the last 500 or so posts... I've come to one conclusion.

This team just doesn't have any experienced DUDES.

We've got a LOT of good players. But we lack a guy or two with a DeAndre Kane or Dustin Hogue or Melvin Ejim "I'm gonna box you out and rip down this rebound or... I'm driving to the hoop, try to stop me and I'll plow you over" type attitude.

Where we do have muscle (like Horton-Tucker, for example), we have inexperience.

Losing Solomon Young hurts more than I think people realize.
