Dropped off my oldest for her first day of high school today. That God **** Facebook had a memory pop up of her first day of school picture from first grade 9 years ago. Hit me directly in the feels.
Good luck kid. Hopefully you live within walking distance from your house.
Also, what the hell is the deal with kids' obsession these days with those Stanley mugs?? Seriously, they're expensive and kids just leave the damn things every where and lose them anyway.
Ya know how bars open early on some holidays? First day of school should be one of those.
1st and 4th grade here. It was time those lunatics had some structure and something to do.
School started at 7:55. Received a text from my daughter she forgot her Chromebook at 8:35. That's gotta be a record.
I remember those days. This is our second year with no first-day pics. But today is the first day of school for our older daughter who's starting her full-time job as a 1st grade teacher. I asked her if I could take a pic by the front door, she just looked at me and didn't say anything.
For now...
Apparently water bottles are the "in/cool" things these days. I don't get it either, we told our daughter if she wanted a Stanley she was paying for some of it with her own money so that is what she did. Oldest started 5th grade and this summer we had some "I'm going to be the only kid in 5th grade without a smart phone" meltdowns. Well our school has a no-phone policy during school hours K-12 so we wound up with a compromise and got her a Gizmo smart watch that we have set to be in school mode during school hours so its pretty much just a watch during school. This is the first year she will ride the bus as middle school is in a different town so she will now have to make sure she gets to the bus stop in time in the morning when 1 of us isn't home and let herself into the house when she gets home so I guess the smart watch at least gives us a line of communication if she has and issue before or after school if someone is not home.
Youngest is in 2nd grade, we have before and after daycare at her school which is nice that we don't have to adjust schedules for drop off and pickup. Also nice that we only have 1 in daycare now too so that's $400 a month we are saving this school year.

We got our now 4th grader a Gizmo a early this year. Was nice to help keep track/stay in touch on his summer adventures around the neighbor hood.
My oldest is an 8th grader and last year we put an air tag in his Chromebook case because he kept losing it. LOL came in handy a couple of times.
There is no way our high schooler was going to let us drop him off. He’d walk the 3 miles if the bus wasn’t available. So getting a picture outside the school didn’t seem like a topic to broach.
First time in 24 years no kids in school or college!! Time to celebrate!!
