***OFFICIAL #9 ISU DEFEATS #7 BAYLOR POSTGAME THREAD***

Loved it, but part of this win can be credited to Baylor not having a coaching staff. I don't know why in the world when you are down 10-15 you pull the one thing that's kept you in the game for no advantage. Baylor was owning us on the glass all game. Then crunch time came and they were all outside the arc??? Why in the hell do you do that. Put at least one of your big men down there to hit the offensive class and kick it out. That's when we stretched it out to a 20 point lead and really sealed the deal. Glad Drew can't coach his way out of a paper bag or Baylor could actually win at Hilton someday.

After thinking about the game, and looking at the stats, I think Baylor was playing well other than turnovers. They were hitting big shots and countering our runs, but just couldn't hang. Very impressive win.

Baylor got was visibly frustrated early in the second half. They started rushing their shots, jacking up too many transition threes, and committing stupid fouls like hammering Kane. From then on, ISU was in control.

Drew had Austin wasting away on the bench for a huge portion of the second half, apparently to get more shooters on the floor. He took their best defender away and we were able to score consistently all half.

Congratulations on the win... not unexpected at Hilton... Great shooting night... Kane is really special.

Great job doubling Jefferson and really taking him out of the game.

I don't think we are a bad team, but I think you guys have a chance to win the the Big XII. Obviously Colorado, Dayton, Syracuse and Kentucky on Neutral courts doesn't prepare a team for Hilton Magic...

Tough way to start conference, but now we have that over with and 8 other teams still have to come here...

so we have that going for us...which is nice.

I thought Thomas played well, but in the 2nd half he gave up a Heslip 3 and he didn't play again.

I'm not sure how he is coached to defend that. It is obvious that the guards cheat heavily to push the guards to the baseline or the paint. Helslip just shot it with Thomas on his hip.

Baylor is improved from last year, and I didn't think that would be the case losing your PG

Thanks man. You guys have a very good team. They went blow for blow with ISU for the entire first half, answering after every run. I think they just got frustrated in the second half. If they can play within themselves and execute they will win a whole lot of games in conference.
Not looking forward to the rematch in Waco. It will be a tough game for sure.

"Looks like the Haucks are still the best team that ISU has played".

Looks like UNI is the best team ISU has played as they took us to OT.... Actually like the UNI game, we just played crap against Iowa. The Baylor game and all the amazing 2nd half comebacks we've had show the true capabilities of this fantastic ISU basketball team.

Great win. Big win with Georges with foul trouble and Hogue perhaps not at 100%.What if Thomas catches fire? What if the late-season freshman and early-season sophomore Percy rejoins the team, but with better defense?

At first I was concerned about 3P defense. It was not great, but Baylor is one of the better 3P shooting teams. Rebounding is a concern, but we did much better when possessions mattered in the second half. If we shoot poorly for the FT line and have trouble rebounding, it will cost us a close game one of these days.

I know I will take some heat, but I cannot help to think that with Bubu and Amardi (especially) that Coach Drew just may be on to something. No, chemistry would not be a concern, we have Fred.

After losing some really good players, Baylor is better than a year ago. I am surprised, and disappointed.

I appreciate it... I've seen some real improvement in just about every player on this team since last year. Austin didn't have a very good second half and still has too much temper, but he is a much better player than a year ago... Jefferson, although he really didn't show it tonight, is a beast... Cherry has been one of our best players but really didn't get it done tonight...

we are a work in progress and that's not really what you want going to Hilton.

2nd half thoughts...

Naz and Morris played great D in the 2nd half. I think that is why Thomas sat more of the 2nd.
ISU missed a lot of layups. Lead could have been a lot bigger. I think they were a bit tentative finishing in front of Baylor's height.

Not really. We've missed more than our share of bunnies since game one. Don't know why.

A sad, sobering thought. Baylor's MBB team only outscored their football team by 1 against ISU.

Agree on all of this.
Between lay-ups and FT's it could have been even better. Of course, most teams miss a few lay-ups, especially against Baylor's height.

Baylor will be fine, good team. I actually think drew is getting better, slow learning curve but i think he can be a a good game coach eventually. He isn't as bad as people makE him out to b
