I would have loved moving on, but after watching some of these other round of 16 matches, I think it's entirely possibly that we avoided a worse beatdown later down the road.

This is confusing me. Isn’t MLS going to a fall-spring schedule in ‘27 but with a winter break?I mean, the most obvious reason MLS doesn't want to switch to a fall-spring schedule is it'll never compete with football in the fall or basketball (or hockey, simply due to its decades head start) in the winter and spring. Spring-fall all it really has to compete with is baseball, and that IS something it can compete with, as baseball has had a decline in popularity over the decades.
But there's another factor: climate. Winters in Europe are NOT the same as winters in the US. European winters are much more moderate compared to much of what the US and Canada sees. Sure, the South and Pacific would be fine, and to an extent so would the Atlantic metroplex from DC to Boston, and yes, we romanticize playing and watching people play football in the snow in December and January... but is anyone going to want to watch anyone play soccer on a cloudy, cold-ass day in Salt Lake City, Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago, St. Paul, Cincinnati, Columbus, Toronto, or Montreal? That's probably a gigantic NO... which is why a fall-spring outdoor league in the US isn't going to work.
Fixed it for you! That side of the Bracket opening up for Norway???
I'll wait a little bit to answer this questionThat side of the Bracket opening up for England???
They say Mike Hargrove was the human rain delay. Rick Sutcliffe could give him a run for his money on the pitching mound.Baseball didn't change - it changed BACK. Games used to be 2-2.5 hours, a 3 hour game was a rarity.
Then they slowly got to the point of the pitcher-batter face off bs. Pitcher stepping off the rubber 4 times to look at the 3rd baseman for no reason, batter stepping out of the box 3 times to check his shoe and adjust his cup, all while holding one hand in the air like a self-important politician asking the crowd for silence. Just waste 45 seconds and then throw a curve in the dirt for ball 2.
Trimming that prima donna, fake intensity bs was the best move they could make.
Thing is, I think the US clears Egypt at almost every position - Egypt is disciplined, defends, and has Mo SalahI would have loved moving on, but after watching some of these other round of 16 matches, I think it's entirely possibly that we avoided a worse beatdown later down the road.
Except in soccer you don’t need the best athlete, you need the highest amount of skill and technique. Big difference. Also while I totally agree youth sports are expensive high school football is still the best type of team football you are going to get. AAU is expensive but also allows free rides to the top tier which soccer is only starting to do with the academiesBut the U.S.’ best women’s athletes are going into soccer at a much higher rate than the best U.S. men’s athletes. That, to me, is why the U.S. isn’t competitive. It’s cultural more than anything.
I would also argue all youth sports are crazy expensive. Not exclusive to soccer. But I don’t really have data on that, just anecdotal
When they turn it on it’s incredible to watchArgentina just went attack mode
