***Official 2026 World Cup Thread***

So far this World Cup has been pretty darn entertaining. I am watching Jordan v Austria right now!

Portugal seems to be struggling with the pressure of the moment. DRC's counter has been close to biting Portugal several times.

Argentina's game last night was lopsided, but it did show just how exciting futbol can be. Right out the gate we saw a couple goals called off for being offside. Messi went to work. His first goal was an absolute rocket. His 2nd goal was probably one of the easiest he ever scored in WC play though. Right place at the right time!

3-4 months back I bought an Ecuador vs Curacoa ticket (Saturday night) for arrowhead. Maybe $275... maybe $325. i can't remember exactly. Neither will likely advance to the knock out stage, but hopefully I get to see a good game. Curacoa got stomped in their opener and Ecuador didn't seem to have an inspiring loss despite it only being 1-0.

I had looked at an elimination stage ticket to purchase at arrowhead a year ago, but those tickets were already over $1,000 despite not knowing who would play in the game.

Second half France looked pretty dominant. Once Senegal tried to open up the game a bit, they got trounced.
Agreed. France we’re terrible in first half, but great in second. They are a very very tough out for anyone. I think we will see their 2nd half performance for most of the rest of the tournament

We’ll see how they handle teams packing the defensive zone. To me, the difference in that game was Senegal tried to get forward in the second half and allowed for more space on the backend that France was able to exploit with the athleticism. So will a team be willing to play that packed in defense for 120 minutes in the knockout stage and take their chance in PK’s? That may be the best chance to beat France.
