***OFFICIAL 2026 WEATHER THREAD***

Springs lately haven’t been bad. Been a few years since we’ve battled the March and April snows. Falls have been nice other than it seems like every September we get a long stretch of 90 degree temps after a mild August.

Dewpoint in Twin Cities is back up to 70° at 9 PM.

When it gets really humid here I like to check on the two worst places for humidity in the USA, Houston and Vicksburg. It's currently only 75° there but dewpoint is also 75°. Ack! And 79° in Houston with a dewpoint of 75°. Damn. Who would ever want to live there! Been both places in July and it was horrible.

Spent a week or so in Houston in August and can confirm - was absolutely brutal. 90% of time outside was spent in the hotel pool/lazy river, which lead to a rather dramatic pool bar tab, but it was worth it.

Texas during the summer is unbearable, it's the major reason we never visit our son in Dallas in July and August, just too damn hot.

I know some people who had their boundary water trip cancelled because of fire risk this week
That stinks. Especially if the “some people” included youths; those can be lifetime memories. I haven’t done BWCA in ~35 years as a teenager. But that was an experience that put hair on my b@lls (eat what you catch, portages etc.) while also being incredibly peaceful. Hopefully they have flexibility and can reschedule.

I went four years each summer from age 13-16 and that is so true. Also some of my first experiences with adult conversations sitting around the fire once the dads all were knee deep into the alcohol.

People with money that live there, are opposite snow birds, leaving the area for cooler climates in the summer. Texas during the summer is not for the faint of heart, humidity and high temps everyday.
There was friend from Keosauqua who did the opposite. He spent his summers in New Mexico. He said he knew it was weird but that is what he did.
