***Official 2026 NCAA Tournament Thread***

Nobody cries about calls in any sport like our fans. Especially games at Hilton Coliseum. Half of our fans think their is a giant conspiracy to keep ISU from winning games. Its been a running joke for a while now in the Big 12.
Bulls***.

Those fanbases do not like each other. It’s not Cy-Hawk, but certainly a lite version. If McDermott retires and Creighton doesn’t make a splash I could see some money pulling out, but it won’t just go to Nebraska
If people think Creighton fans are just gonna sit back and watch and move their money to Nebby, they are nuts. That is a passionate fanbase. Watching their rival rise will only make them want to hire an even splashier coach and pour even more NIL funds into Creighton's basketball program, especially without a football team to fund.

There is near-zero overlap between Creighton and UNL fanbases in my experience.

It is a very Huskers-fan thing to think a substantial number of Creighton fans are ever going to jump ship and support UNL instead. Husker fans have Hawkeye-level delusions of grandeur.

It seems to be an Omaha thing. From my understanding, plenty of people who grew up in Omaha have traditionally rooted for Creighton in MBB and Nebraska in Football. When I went to the Iowa State @ Creighton MBB in 2021, I sat next to two of them. Both from Omaha, UNL grads but still Creighton MBB fans. They did not have kind words to say about the lousy MBB in Lincoln at that time. Now, the longer Nebraska MBB stays relevant, this will slowly fade away, but it will take time. Just my onion.

Did they really say Miami has the biggest one season turn around in history?? What the hell are they talking about.
Not sure what metric they're using for that but they went 7-24 last year and 26-8 (so far) this year.

+19 wins is very good but definitely isn't the most ever.

They also played 20 ACC games this year (18 regular-season plus two in the conference tournament) and somehow never played Duke.

This is a very pro-Purdon't crowd, which of course makes sense geographically, but it's really imbalanced.

Just seemed really off when we are their other game. We ended up +20 in TJs first year. Plus we were just god awful and they were just bad after Laranaga quit mid season.

LOL…Nebraska fans with Hawkeye level of delusion, coming from an Iowa State fan…

I’ve read a lot of message boards over the years, every fan base that starts out the season, kicking ass in football or basketball just like Iowa State has a number of times, starts hitching up their big boy britches…

This quote alone suggest huge levels of delusion

No…. that’s outside the window thinking. Creighton is a Jesuit school that is very well thought of in the Midwest for undergraduate and professional programs. It would be natural for fans of a school like Creighton to follow the Big state schools football team, especially if it has a long history like Nebraska has….

They are not going to magically transition to Nebraska basketball fans.. men’s or women’s either one.

Creighton has a very proud history in men’s and women’s basketball both and as has been said by eye and several others on here, they are a very passionate fan base and they love their school.

Your experience was with Nebraska grads who decided to follow Creighton, which again isn’t necessarily all that unusual, but it’s not a pure snapshot of reality
