***Official 2025 Weather Thread***

A few swats with a fly swatter and some bug spray does a good job chasing them away. Not sure what to do about the gnats though.

The bug soother or any of those lemongrass smelling sprays works OK for gnats. Deet does no good.

It looks like my extreme tornado anxiety from the Minden and Greenfield tornadoes last year is exerting enough cosmic influence to keep away storms this year ;)

Even tomorrow's setup puts central Iowa right between severe risks in the diurnal quiet slot, and the next system coming at the end of the week may be even weaker than this one.

That said, keep an eye out for higher rain chances in Iowa (and most of CONUS east of the Rockies) next week:

For Iowa, tornado season peaks at June 15th and then drops off https://www.spc.noaa.gov/new/SVRclimo/climo.php?parm=sigTorn, but in my experience in recent years summer tornadoes tend to be more squall line driven and therefore weaker and shorter lived than the ones from big synoptic drylines in March, April, and May.

The Fire Wall/Band is about 150 Miles North to South.
Just moving it's way East accross Canada......wow.


It is equivalent of a Massive Fire from Des Moines to the Minnesota Boarder, just working it's was East.......
