I cried when I watched Drake lose to UCLA in the final 4 back in 1969. Watched it as a young kid on our black and white TV. Same year I watch the first man step on the moon. :)
I was alive remember the moon landing but we weren't a sports family, didn't start following collegiate sports till HS.

Percentage of posters here that weren't alive when Drake last won a real tourney game?
75%? I'd say closer to 85-90% I wasn't born yet!
If it was their final four run, I was 7 years old. I skipped an overnight slumber party so I could watch it. Afterwards, I picked up our landline and tried to dial Dolph Pulliam collect. I said “I want to talk to Dolph Pulliam.“ The operator replied “I want to talk with your mother.”

I know it'll never happen but it would be cool if a coach stayed at Drake longterm... but that would take a very unique person. It's cool when Drake is good! Doesn't necessarily help ISU but damnit it's fun. Building up that college basketball atmosphere around central Iowa (they should play every year) would raise up both schools, I think anyway. More fun than play prairie view community college or whatever.

I wasn't around then, but I did go to a number of drake basketball camps growing up when Gary Garner was the head coach. I think Dolph showed up a few times. When I was a young kid, my parents had season tickets at Vets from late 70's to early 80s. Wayne Kreklow, Lewis Lloyd...that era.

Drake really mucked it up. Thought Missouri was gonna beat em. Congrats to the Bulldogs. That game between Drake and Tech if they win will be a defensive brawl.

Not arguing but that's a chunk of money.
He is worth it..That kid is a floor general

SEC schools, Big 10, Big East and Big 12 schools gonna throw a ton of money at him. A million might be light. 31 win team was reason they beat an SEC school.

I went to Maury John's camp his first year as the Iowa State coach. God I'm old. :)
