*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Well that is stupid. I know you people who love gloom think the Division is over, but the Cubs have a good chance of picking up 2-3 games by Sunday.

Has anyone looked at Milwaukee’s schedule? It’s not easy.

I guess I should expect it but these meltdowns when the Cubs lose a game is insane with a 162 game schedule.

None of the players we got at the trade deadline is making any significant impact.
Kittredge has been pretty good in 8 of his 11 appearances so far. His ERA doesn't look great at 5.40 but his WHIP is just 1.00 and he's struck out 14 in 10 IP.

Rogers has been OK, No earned runs allowed in 7 of 9 appearances, 1.04 WHIP 13 K's in 8.2 innings
Soroka was not a smart trade. If we get anything meaningful out of him I will be surprised
Castro was not a bad trade at the time and was a bench upgrade over Berti and Brujan but he like many on the offense has been struggling lately.

Yes we still failed to address starting pitching but we have not been able to win close games lately because of lackluster offense so can't blame the pitching entirely on the prolonged slump we've been in. Imagine if we had traded for Suarez too as he's only batted .189 with the Mariners so far although he's been heating up as has hit .250 with 5 HR in the last 15 games.

What is mind boggling to me is why we don't give Caissie more AB when you have all 3 OF and Suzuki in long funks right now. He could be a sparkplug to a struggling offense but for whatever reason Craig won't give him some more starts. Some of the lineups and in-game decisions feels like we have Ross as manager at times.

You are assuming that we sweep Colorado and Toronto sweep Milwaukee. San Diego is only 1 games behind us and we are 6.5 games behind Milwaukee. It is very unlikely that we will catch Milwaukee. We must hold on to the top wild card spot.

Caissie should play over struggling Suzuki and Tucker. I still don’t get all these preseason hypes about Tucker.

Tucker was fine until he was hit in the hand in June. In typical Cubs fashion we either misdiagnosed the injury or allowed him to try and play through it and it obviously affected his production. The thing that irks me the most is how we would not trade prospects for pitching because we valued them that much yet we don't seem to be in any hurry to give them a chance to play when the guys they are meant to someday replace have been on month+ struggle at the plate.

Or we win today, win 2-3 this weekend, and Milwaukee loses today and loses 2-3 to Toronto. Milwaukee is very catchable if you look at schedules and their current injury issues.

Injury may have derailed Tucker’s season but he is currently slightly below his career averages . He was playing well above his career averages in the early part of this season.

Injuries may catch up with Brewers but I think it is too late to catch them unless we go crazy over the next 6 weeks. I am hoping that we don’t lose the top wild card to the Padres.

First, there is only 4 weeks left in the season. If you think it is far-fetched to catch about 1.5 games a week from a team that has a more difficult schedule, then I'm not sure what to tell you. We know the Cubs offense is capable.

Another inning ending Double Play for the Cubs with Nico. That is very shocking. Unreal how this team can not score runners from 3rd with less than two outs. Been bad for months now at getting guys in those situations.
