*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Tucker's bat has been quiet ever since he hurt his wrist. We gave up a good prospect to get him for one season that was hampered by injury.
Players go through hot and cold stretches. Tucker started hot but since regressed to his career average. Tucker is closer to players like Tyler Soderstrom and Paul Goldschmidt than Otani or Judge.

Dude, you're really bad at this. Tyler Soderstrom? Freaking Tyler Soderstrom? The guy that had NEGATIVE career WAR coming into this year? That Tyler Soderstrom? The guy whose best OPS+ year is worse than what Tucker did as a rookie?

EDIT: I can't get over this. Per BR, Kyle Tucker's closest comps are Larry Walker, Lance Berkman and Carlos Beltran. Who are Soderstroms? Daniel Murphy and Travis d'Aurnaud. C'mon man.

I get they want Ballesteros down getting swings everyday but the guy at the time kept your division hopes alive with the biggest hit of the season off the Brewers. Keeping McGuire as a 3rd catcher is bad choice in my opinion. Been frustrated with this team and the roster moves since the deadline. This team looks dead. Went from a team that looked could make a run in October to a team that loses in the wild card round. Glad Jed/Carter kept the 2032 Cubs in mind at the deadline.

Curious how they use McGuire going forward. Just don't really see a reason to carry 3 catchers with the current offensive struggles. Not that Berti was adding much either there so I don't mind the DFA but now your bench basicall is Castro that can cover multiple positions, Turner who is basically just a 1B and PH and a 3rd catcher in McGuire. Would rather have Mo as that 3rd bat or even just call Caissie up at this point and get the OF some more rest to get him AB.

I disagree. Our catchers have been great at the plate, Berti was basically a pr. Having three catchers allows us to use one to ph.

McGuire has been good. He's not better than Amaya who hit .280 before he went down. He's back now. I just don't think McGuire is really needed anymore IMO. They are worried if Kelly or Amaya get hurt. They want McGuire instead of Mo at Catcher. Fine whatever. It's a bad choice IMO. Prospect hug instead of adding to your team at the deadline. Then you turn around and just keep them at AAA when they could help your ball club in a Postseason race. Would you rather have Mo or McGuire off the bench to PH? I pick Mo over McGuire every day. I am so glad they are looking at the future of this ballclub instead of what is the best options in 2025 to make the postseason and get a home playoff series.

Soderstrom is only 23. This is his first full season in MLB. He is hitting .260, 22 HR, and 71 RBI. He has more homerun and RBI than Tucker. What is so outrageous about comparing Tucker to Soderstrom? BTW, Tucker is not Larry Walker, not even close. Walker is a hall of famer and 3 time batting champion. His lifetime BA is .313. Tucker‘s lifetime BA is .274. Tucker is a good player but not a super star and definitely not a hall of famer. What he is doing this year is very close to his career average.
