I am not sure we even score. Not sure why Counsell keeps putting Kelly at 4th in the batting order.
I know starters are injured by I also don’t love bullpen games against good teams…
I just don’t think he has it unfortunately. Going to be a career AAA guy I'm afraid.
Going to likely be down to a 1 game lead after tonight. Things are starting to get spicyyyyy.

I wouldn’t sweat this one. Flexen v. Rodon and Rodon was dealing! This team is going to be upgraded in a couple of weeks. Salvaging a game in NY going into the break would be just fine.
Yep, just don't get swept this series and then at worst we will be tied for the Division lead at the break.
I love Counsell leaving Wicks out there to just get raked because he likely knows he’s going to get sent down soon again lol
Yup, he's kind of in that same mold as Killian and Wesneski where they look good at Iowa but just can't sustain it when they get to the big league. It's another reason why I'm not overly concerned about trading prospects at the deadline if it results in meaningful additions. How many times have we seen the Cubs hold onto guys that could have netted something in a trade and then when they finally get a shot in Chicago they fizzle out and lose a ton of trade value that they once had. Canario and Killian are prime examples as that was thought to be a decent haul of prospects SF gave up for a rental of Bryant. Probably could have flipped Canario for something when he was on a heater in AAA before he got his first taste of the big leagues then a couple years later he was DFA. Can probably find plenty of examples of guys we held onto too long over the past 10 years that that were once thought of as top guys in the Cubs system that didn't amount to much. What are the odds that Alcantara or Caissie turns into a stud once they get a chance and not wind up becoming another Canario or Nelson Velazquez. Caissie is probably as high of value as he's ever been right now and before Alcantara got hurt he was trending that way too.
Cam Smith may turn out to be a stud that we wish we had held onto especially if we don't resign Tucker and Shaw struggles to hit at the MLB. It's the price to pay for a superstar like Tucker but I'd be curious what other names besides Smith were discussed. The Cubs have really struggled to bring up talent through the minors that become major contributors since 2016. If you look at this current roster Horton and Palencia are the only 2 pitchers that came up through the Cubs minors. Position wise Happ, Amaya, Hoerner, Shaw, and PCA (kinda) are the only ones. I struggle to think of guys in recent memory that are gone now after we traded the 2016 core away. Given the track record of the past 10 years I'm kind of at a point if you have to sell the farm now to compete then why not as we haven't exactly been building teams with the farm system lately anyways.
We have the Royals, White Sox, Orioles, and Reds sandwiched in between the Brewers twice. Everything is going to be ok.
