Unfortunately? I love what Reese is doing but it's not going to last. Kelly is by far the better player and will be for the rest of the year.
Why is Kelly better than McGuire? Neither is known for their offense. McGuire provides left handed bat that the Cubs need.

3.5 of the Cubs top 5 hitters are left handed.

I don't know what to tell you if you think Reese McGuire is better than Carson Kelly bc of a 14 game sample size. Don't get me wrong, I love what he's done for us and wouldn't hate if they kept 3 catchers for a bit.

That said, Carson Kelly isn't going anywhere and that is the right move.

That Michael Busch trade looks better every single day...
If one of Ferris or Hope works out for LA it was a classic "trade that helps both teams" and those are always great. If both of those guys make it though, it will end up as an overpay--and I like Busch. LA was pretty shrewd (as usual) in which two guys they asked for out of our system.

Better chance for Hope, I think. Ferris's walk rate is still alarmingly high and he's pre-Tommy John.

Good bounce back these last 2 games. On to Houston who just swept the Phillies and gave up a total of 1 run in that 3 game series.

A split in StL isnt bad. Its that Mariners homestead that stings a little.
Keep it moving in H Town.

You haven’t answered my question. Why is Kelly better than McGuire? Is he much better defensively? Kelly is a lifetime .229 hitter. McGuire is slightly better at .251. What Kelly has done early in the season is way out of his norm.

The good news would be that the Cubs will at most face one of the starters that shut the Phillies down.

Best wins of the season to date past couple days. Tough finish to end of 1st half. Even just playing. 500 would I'd be pretty happy with. Then luckily make a move for starter shortly after the break.b
