Pat and Ron said Schwarbs has a great eye and then he struck out 3 times.

Don't get me wrong, he can hit it a mile but its all or nothing with him.
he does have a great eye.

i always thought he would especially benefit from an automated strike zone. he gets hosed on so many balls that he lays off that get called strikes instead. especially fastballs away. umpires in general really struggle to call the outside corner. he takes 90% of the 50/50 calls that should be balls by replay and gets **** on because of it.

suzuki gets the same BS calls as a right handed hitter IMO.

those types of players don't tend to age well. The difference between an above average player and an unplayable player with his skill set is batspeed.
This is sarcasm isn’t it?

Off the top of my head I can’t think of a current big leaguer with a more compact swing than Schwab.

Yep, looks like a 4-5 road trip. 10 game home stand coming up and hopefully get Shota back soon. Maybe that will give the team a bit of a jolt.
Pat Hughes mentioned the other night that 3 city road trips are really tough. He’s seen A LOT of baseball. 4-5 an acceptable outcome considering how good this team was in May.

Just kind of had the feel of a throwaway game. 9 straight in 3 different cities. Probably content with being near .500 on the trip and you didn't lose much of any ground in the Central.

Put some money on the Phillies -1.5 because this felt pretty predictable.

Starting pitching is definitely top of the shopping list before the deadline. Hopefully Shota stays healthy once he is back, Taillon is fine, but the rest of the rotation basically is playing with house money for better or worse. Boyd has been pretty good but past injury history makes you wonder if he will hold up or get fatigued, Horton is just a rookie, Brown has been all over the place, and not sure what to expect from Rea as he's been shaky lately too. This is not a rotation you can trust in a playoff series, really need to add 1 or 2 solid starters if you are going all-in for a run. The bullpen is not a concern that it was early in the season but would not be against acquiring a proven closer or setup type guy as can never have too much pitching. Been very lucky that guys like Keller, Pomeranz, Flexen, and Braiser have far exceeded expectations and been solid and Palencia has been mostly good as well. Pressly and Cabrera are probably the 2 bullpen arms I least trust and that's saying a lot because earlier this season that list had some guys that are no longer with the org or back in Iowa. Seems to be a lot shorter leash this season if a reliever can't get guys out than it has been the past few years.

Cubs are in a stretch of 26 games in 27 days.
Kudos to Cubs bullpen. It is really painful to watch Rockies and A’s bullpen. Absolutely horrible bullpen. Rockies were up 3 in the 9th yesterday but allowed 4 runs. Today they were up 3 in the 8th but allowed 7 runs in the final 2 innings. Heart breaking losses are piling up for the Rockies. How much can Rockies fans take? Terrible relief pitcher after another terrible relief pitcher. Iowa Cubs may have better arms than Rockies.
