*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Yeah we lose tonight I could very easily see a 3-6 type road trip happening.
They've banked enough wins so that such an outcome wouldn't be at all tragic. This is a really good team either way. I'm officially convinced. A rash of (even more) bad injury luck is the only thing that will derail the season.

Forgotten in all the talk this season by just how good has Nico Hoerner been! Currently 2nd highest WAR of all MLB 2B right now at 2.3. Remember how there were talks here how they should trade him to make room for Shaw or Triantos at 2B? If he keeps this up he is going to set himself up for a nice payday after the 2026 season whether that is the Cubs or somewhere else that pays him.

Crazy thing right now is Cubs currently have the following for MLB leaders at the following positions:

C: Kelly 3rd 1.9
1B: Busch 5th 1.8
2B: Hoerner 2nd 2.3
SS: Swanson 14th 1.6
3B: Shaw 16th 1.1 (had a stretch in AAA)
LF: Happ 16th 1.0 (had a IL stint)
CF: PCA 1st 3.7
RF: Tucker 4th 2.3
DH: Suzuki *is qualified for LF right now due to playing for Happ which puts him 7th at 1.6 at LF and 4th if he was qualified at DH

So 5/6ish guys in top 5 WAR at their positions in all of MLB. Probably going to have a few offensive slumps here and there but other than maybe a move to bolster a bench spot they are in a position to concentrate on starting pitching going into the deadline.

I see the game is exclusively on Apple TV+ tonight.

Now let's see him turn a ground out to third that is actually in the 1st baseman's hand long before he's anywhere near 1st into an RBI double.

Yes, I realize it was actually an RBI fielder's choice with an error, but still amazing.

I will never not laugh at javy signalling SAFE and then busting it down to first.
