*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

I mean the point where it’s mathematically impossible.
ya. i know. but for *****...

they are 38 games below 0.500. they are 9-47. holy fuckballs.

they have 106 games remaining. they have to win 72 of them just to get back to 0.500. that is 0.679 baseball which is a seldom seen winning percentage to go on for 100 games. and that is just to get to 0.500. they probably have to get to 10 games above 0.500, and to do that they have to win 77 games, which is a win percentage of 0.726. that would be a historic 100 game stretch.

I assume Brown goes to Iowa when Shota comes back?

Probably depends on how he does the next couple of weeks. I don't think he's ready to be a MLB starter without adding a 3rd pitch so if they think he can pitch effectively out of the bullpen maybe he slides into a role there otherwise he needs to go back to Iowa to start working on another pitch if they want to keep him stretched out. There lies another wrinkle in the equation of what happens as the Cubs are lacking starters in AAA right now too because of all the injuries. Horton and Flexen are both up and they have 9 other pitchers on the AAA IL right now including Wicks and some non-40 man starter depth guys. They've been picking up anyone off the scrap heap like Kenta Maeda just to eat up some innings right now. It's scary to think what would happen if we had another injury to the rotation at the moment as there is not a good option in Iowa to fill another spot at the moment.

I know. I’m just saying they might break a record for how quickly they get the official ‘E’ in the standings.

only having 9 wins in june may be a modern baseball record. at least since WWII. not sure about the baseball of yesteryear.

I agree with Boog on this, if Brown can Master the two pitches he throws ala Steele he’d be fine with two pitches.

PCA starting to swing WAY too much at breaking pitches in the dirt.

AND a mile above the strike zone.. which itself isn’t new. He’s gonna need to adjust when pitches figure out they don’t need to throw anything close the zone low or high to get chase, as long as it’s within the zone left to right.

I don't know what Happ's batting stats are since his return from the IL but they have to be pretty damn bad.

They don't have another leadoff hitter on the roster. Happ is patient and works the pitcher count.
6/38 with three walks. He’s looked out of sync.

Honestly I’d of put him around 7th and just move everyone up a spot till he got back in a groove.
