*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Thought you Cub fans might like this. Rizzo was at Yank game today with wife and new baby. And slammed a brewski for the camera. Bud Light to so he might as well be a Cyclone to. ;)

His medicals must have some red flags if he couldn't find anything than a minimum deal. Hoping he finds 1 more opportunity but the longer he sits out the less likely he gets anything more than a minimum deal to earn a spot in training camp with a team.

I feel like Rizzo liked being with the Yankees over the Cubs. Am I wrong ?

I believe he said he wouldn’t play for league minimums and was looking for something significant to continue playing.

Perfect timing.

Yeah, he's a Cub. He liked it in NY, fans loved him, but he didn't have the career there he wanted, just injured too much. He was never "right" after that concussion. Glad to see him get this official retirement as a Cub, like I said we Yank fans all liked the guy and felt bad his career got cut short.

He seems like a "be wherever your feet are" kind of guy. Looks like he enjoys life wherever he is.

I'm not sure what exactly an "ambassador for the organization" does, but I'm sure he will be great at it. He'd also be a really good studio guy if he goes that route. One of my all time favorites.

Facing Chris Sale tonight so probably not a bad idea but PCA down to the 9th spot:

So Shaw was scratched from the starting lineup for "personal reasons". But Shaw pinch hit in the 8th. So conjecture about injury on web is probably unfounded.
He'd been up all night with an illness apparently. Sounds like some bad food. Can see how you'd get over that enough to play.
