*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Was at Coors Field in the left center field bleachers tonight. Fun game to see PCA and Happ up close doing their thing. But no lead is ever safe in that ballpark!

typical as in signing below average players. And the cubs lose.
Well, Judge & Ohtani aren't out there on waiver wire. So guys available are a gamble.

If Cubs are looking for proven MLB rh batter to platoon with Busch, DH or PH- Santana is a good pickup with 2 added roster spots on Sep 1.

Sure as a fan, would love for a prospect to be called up. But Santana won't shrink in a big playoff moment. Just hope he gets hot at right time.

If I had to guess Cubs see limited opportunity for Caissie to play much if Tucker and Happ bats continue to heat up.

Conversely, PCA has been a trainwreck in August. At a minimum, could make sense to platoon PCA (rhs) & Alcantara (lhs) in CF.

I think it’s smart business but the Caissie move is and has simply been a manipulation of service time.

Called up with 46 MLB service days remaining in the year.

45 days and beyond eliminates rookie status.

He was a big reason for wins when he started 3 straight games, then grabbed bench and was solely a pinch hitter because the Cubs could not afford to have him prove he should stay on the roster. Let him rot for a week or two, then send him down saying you didn’t need him.

Now he will retain his rookie status next year, which makes him a sexier trade chip whilst retaining the ability to be ROY eligible, which would earn his team draft picks

I'll be interested to see if Alcantara rots on the bench like Caissie did. At least he can spell PCA in CF which is what I guess this move was about.

Am I missing something here? Player has to be on the 40 man prior to midnight to be eligible for the playoffs. Santana going to be activated today as part of expanded roster. Is there some type of grace period to acquiring a player that obviously has no options on adding to the 40 then activating? Because with the Caissie move it would have been easy to activate Santana when you demoted OC the bring Alcantara up today as part of the expanded roster.

Maybe that’s what happened and it’s just being misreported?

Caissie got exposed by the change up. Basically as is he’s not viable in the playoffs. Not sure that can be fixed in a month?
