Personally I would say overreactive, school protection areas are usually pretty good.
But I'm old the one year( like maybe 5th grade?) Went to school blizzard picked up the school was going to have us stay overnight in the gym, about 430-5 storm broke and they sent us all home on the busses. LOL.
Really do whatever makes you feel best.

My belief is that you have to be underground to get to that 90% survival rate in a mid range EF4-E5. Most schools don’t have the ability to make that happen.

It looks like kcci says the nastier of the storms is in the 3 to 8pm range which makes me feel a little better!

just got to work to realize there is a nado' warning in western adair county. i live in adair county

Dark enough that the street lights are on outside my ISU office. Huh.

I live in our basement 22 hrs a day and always have the shades closed - so I don’t see or hear anything but thunder. How much have we gotten out in Waukee? The few times I’ve looked outside the past few days, it’s looked like it was going to rain but I never then hear or see anything. The house is really humid however.

I'm right across 80 from Rubes and my weather station says only .06" so far today. Dark AF out right now though.

We live in Glynn Village behind Sugar Creek Golf. Seems like it’s been going right North or right South of us like 90% of storms do.

You're probably good until the water gets ankle deep in your basement. Higher than that I'd worry about the electrical outlets. ;)
