It's been spitting off and on all day in between Cedar Rapids and Waterloo.
I read today that there was 1 fatality from the Minden tornado. Head injury, died the next day at an Omaha hospital.
What was the strength of the Minden one?
I read a couple of EF4 tornadoes hit north of Omaha Friday. One I saw on video was a monster double/twin EF4.
Went out this morning and we had 3.4 inches of rain in our gauge down here by the Missouri border since Saturday. Had 1.4 inches Thursday night and Friday morning. almost 5 inches of rain down here, and most of it went straight into the ground.
I don't know the strength of the Minden one, but I think the one near Harlan was a continuation of the one that went through Minden.
Does anyone here know?
I think that because I believe I read somewhere that the Minden one went 40 miles.
I think they are still gathering info. Here's a page 'under construction'. Not much info on it now, but maybe come back in a couple of weeks as more data comes in.

You would think the Minden/ Harlan one(s) were atleast EF2, maybe 3 or 4. The video I saw from storm tracker Freddie Mckinley, show some of the hugest funnels I've ever seen, he said the same basically.

The drought map from the 23rd showed a lot of improvement. Many places going 1-2 steps down the drought scale. Guessing the same thing will happen for tomorrows map.
For the weather experts out there: seems like we're in a period of activity for the next 10+ days? My forecast in central Iowa shows a decent chance of rain every day through the 10-day.
West Des Moines really dodged a bullet with the EF0 that was briefly on the ground near Maffitt Reservoir. That was tracking towards Glen Oaks and the Mills Civic/EP True area which could have been really really bad.
Still hard to fathom how close my hometown was to becoming the next Parkersburg or Joplin.
Our farmstead is just NE of the golf course. They had semis hauling hogs from Scott (Will's Dad) McLaughlins place. Their place is like a war zone! Spent the entire day helping clean up. Never seen damage like that before.
Check out the stormchaser video at the 8 minute mark (just west of Harlan on Hwy 44 and the 14 minute mark as this was has it passed over New Hwy 59 you can see blue sign for the golf course as it started a path north on Old Hwy 59.
