Yes I'm almost certain rural Iowa folk follow that law.
One of our neighbors burns crap all of the time. He was burning finished furniture this summer. Dark black smoke and chemicals in the air, I had an asthma attack from inside the house. One of our neighbors called the cops, all they did was make him douse the fire. Two days later, he was back to burning all his crap that wouldn’t fit in his tiny garbage container.

Might be common for you urban folk. Outside of a temporary country wide burn ban that is occasionally issued, I don't know of any other permanent laws regarding the use of fire out here in the country.
I thought the original post, from Bellevue, was more referring to pouring gas on the driveway. That's a groundwater issue and, I think, against the law most places.

We had a big snow in either 2018 or 2019. I strapped my snow shoes on that night to take the dogs for a walk in Beaverdale. Might repeat that tonight.

It looks as if there are 5 more flights scheduled to land in DSM tonight. Two from NYC...one from Minneapolis...one from Detroit and one from Atlanta.

Unless the Cowboys are connecting with any of those........looks like they are not coming.
Flight plan is still there....

Yeah, i'm very much eyeing the conditions. Its looking very iffy with the winds.

I have a Subaru if you want to carpool. We have not heard if Okie St is even here yet have we? If they are not, it's just not going to happen.

In Ankeny, the snow is over my chain link fence now in drifts. We can't see spots of it.

The snow here is pretty wet. Iowa getting the same wet, heavy stuff?

Spent an hour on the business end of a shovel today before a neighbor came over and finished it off. Saved me about another 1/2 I'm guessing

When's the last time they closed for cold? I walked in some cold ass temps Freddy to Design one time back early 2009 maybe? Probably a lot easier to flip virtual in the post covid world.
Good question. I have strong memories of pulling kids stuck in snow banks back in 03/04, and still having class/lab.

2021 i think.

Its definitely seemed like they've been more likely to close down for poor weather the last decade vs back in the 00s. There were several days I can remember they probably should have closed.
