It looks as if there are 5 more flights scheduled to land in DSM tonight. Two from NYC...one from Minneapolis...one from Detroit and one from Atlanta.

Unless the Cowboys are connecting with any of those........looks like they are not coming.

So, we're absolutely certain that no one should try CR to Ames for the men's game, right? Just need confirmation before giving my tickets to my Ames friends.

But I'm sure it felt worth it for the likely huge surge of customers/guests today......

I just called in for my night job. Thanks to all the random folks who helped me get unstuck each time. Never had any of that before, but some genuinely nice folks involved in that tonight.

I've called the morning job as a contingency already, but I'll be out before dawn giving it a shot.

I was only day employee that did come in but I need to average a certain number of hours to maintain health insurance so I had no choice but to go into work.

Like I said before...drove from DSM to Ames and back this afternoon. Wouldn't do it after dark. Roads were fine.......visibility going to Ames wasn't the best in a few spots. Might wait to see what tomorrow brings if possible.

Yup. We have folks in that boat, too.
I'm just looking ahead to bills in February. I'd prefer this weekend not to be what it will be.
On the other hand, if I can get there, and I think that maybe I can, there might be a good chance to do the whole shift. I assume that people will be calling out.

Being an Iowan I would never make that call this far out unless you were planning to go tonight. At this point I’m still planning to head up from SE Iowa for the men’s and women’s games. I need to get my kid back to Ames sometime this weekend

Don't they usually fly into Ames?

Crappy thing is with Houston this week and a conference home double header if we had good weather this was a good week to make good money as a restaurant and it's going to end being a horrible week profit wise as a restaurant.

I miss my apartment in downtown Madison during this type of weather. It would shut down and people would cross country ski around the streets.
I live on Kingman Blvd in DSM and saw two separate groups do this today. We have lived here nearly 20 years and this is a first.

It was.
For me, I don't want to see the paycheck savaged by a lack of hours, since I already have a job that won't pay again until the end of March. (It's really time to find something boring and steady somehow.)

I feel for you guys that have to get out in this stuff. I hope your employer appreciates your dedication. I have walked in your shoes and know how nerve racking it is driving at night with horrible road conditions. Glad I don't have to make that choice any longer.

Mine were great about it. One offers emergency time, the other not, so there's that.

I was thinking yesterday about how many bad storms I've pushed my way through. I'm surprised that I couldn't pull this one off tonight, but it's probably for the best.
