I get around
I got a notification they filed their flight plan so seems they are planning to come.
Originally they were scheduled to take off at 3 PM and they are still on the ground. If they are waiting on the weather, it's not going to get any better, at least tonight.

Blizzard warning extended to 6 PM Saturday.

No reason these games should be played. Even says "Consider their safety". Come on Iowa State.

I would bet if they make it to DSM tonight they won't be driving to Ames until tomorrow. Like I said, was just on 35 and going north I can see them shutting that down after dark. The roads are fine, but too many areas around bridges and construction that are just a little to close to call on visibility. And that was day time. Stay in DSM and make the run tomorrow after the sun comes up.

As stupid as that sounds...there is a law against setting things on fire?
Is this a serious question? There are lots of laws prohibiting people from setting all sorts of things on fire.

With any luck we will be there by Tuesday.

Might be common for you urban folk. Outside of a temporary country wide burn ban that is occasionally issued, I don't know of any other permanent laws regarding the use of fire out here in the country.

Feel free to enlighten me.
Most cities don't allow open burning. Some allow covered fire pits. Even fewer have times where you are allowed to burn yard waste. It's also illegal to just dump gasoline on the ground, which putting it on the snow would be considered the same I'm sure (FYI this applies to you rural folks as well). So yeah, lots of laws probably prohibit that particular activity.

I have 17 inches on the south side of Ames. This is on our back deck facing the south side out of the wind. Not sure how accurate it is but this is a **** load of snow. This does not include the snow we got on Tuesday.

When I did get home our driveway access is through the alley which was not plowed at the time. Luckily there is a small business district a couple blocks away I could park at because with a winter advisory there is no parking on the streets.

When alley did get plowed and I went to go get my vehicle I was walking down neighbors driveway to get to my car and fell and totally wiped out. Luckily all that I hurt was my pride.

Probably ran the bobcat with brush attachment ice polishers they're so fond of
Those things should not be allowed on campus. And anyone who orders their use should be required to walk every inch of those polished routes, starting 15 min after the machine passes.

And I think it was supposed to start later but instead came super early a.m.
Last night I thought the blizzard warning was to start at 10 am today and go to 6 am tomorrow.

EDIT, not that it matters now. Also, wind chill warning from midnight tonight to noon Tuesday.
