Just saw where Wapello and Davis counties are pulling their DOT trucks off the roads, no more plowing today.

Just got done snowblowing the driveway. Despite some huge drifts pretty easy job even for my little single stage electric. At times snow was 3 or 4 inches above the deck, so had to back up and go over the same spot twice, but the snow is so light just get it up in the air and the wind does the rest.
Landing a plane in this weather just sounds crazy.
And it could be tough to get back out until Monday based on the winds and temps forecasted for central Iowa. People are so dumb, acting like OSU doesn’t want to make it or something? If they can get here and get here safely they’ll be here.
When’s the last time a conference game was postponed because of weather? It just doesn’t happen. My guess is OSU might not get here tonight but they will make them come in the morning.
Think they were having 50+ winds as this system moved through.
They haven’t cancelled it yet and it rarely happens.
The Register just texted that OSU still plans to leave in an hour.
Van Buren county had an accident and EMA just put out a warning that traveling is life threatening.
This is how I remember winter in Iowa in the 80’s. Legit drifts that you could turn in to a multi-room winter kid condo.
Just did a pass of the snowblower. I've never had to go through such high drifts in my driveway.
I remember reading about inclement weather and NCAA team travel a few years ago (trying to find that link). Some teams will fly into different airports, within proximity of their destination, and drive down the morning of the game. Makes it a bit easier being our game is at 5pm tomorrow.
As an example, OK State could fly into MSP, then bus down to Ames early tomorrow morning. Using MSP purely as an example, but I do wonder if they're getting any of this storm.
Husband got home to our parking lot. He then called me because all of the open spots were drifted over. He parked as "out of the way" as he could, came in and grabbed our shovel while I bundled up to go outside. We each took turns at making a pass with the shovel in the nearest parking spot. A staff member of the complex drove past with a Bobcat, and came back to help finish it off. The path from the main sidewalk to the door is almost up to our knees. Got a lovely snow facial/dermapeel from my outdoor excursion. And now the pain sets in as my face thaws out.
As the plow goes by again. I have always thought it would be a semi interesting job for an hour or two.
There have been more cancellations than non cancellations today. I just took a look and only one departure scheduled from now until 8:30. And 3 arrivals since 12. Quite a few scheduled. But lots of cancelled.
Back in my newspaper days, I went on a ride along with the snow removal department one overnight for a story. It was very interesting and I definitely have appreciation for what they deal with and do.
